Our fancy high speed Comcast service that we pay more than enough for leaves us with this - it looks like better than many, not as good as a few. But, we are in MD and I used the DC server...

i've downloaded things at 4 megs/sec on time
Still slow compared to FTTH which hits around 9MB/sec! :D

What I would really be interested in seeing, is how long it takes everyone to DL the Mac OS 9.2.1 North American English update which is 82MB.

With my current ADSL, which is slow for Japan, it takes about 2 minutes.

My friends FTTH only takes about 9 seconds to DL the same file.

Speed

Here's mine just 3MB cable from charter in wisconsin pratically on lake superior in the middle of no where lol

I just rechecked my network speed. It used to be around 3000kbps, but I just ran the test and got:

Download: 8961 kbps
Upload: 3628 kbps

On another speed test site they clocked my upload at over 5000 kbps!! (at 2 am) I'm pretty psyched! This is on my school network too.

From the suburbs of chicago, testing on the Chicago Server. I have comcast broadband... but why is my upload so slow?

Hate to quote myself, but has anyone taken the challenge to see how long it takes to DL the Mac OS 9.2.1 update?

I am really interested in seeing the time that it takes.

The reason that I ask, is that my friend's FTTH connection does not register correctly with the speed test. It only shows around a DL of 900kbps. It should show around a DL of 70,000+ kbps or 78 times faster than it does.

By DL'ing a large file like this gives an idea of real throughput vice burst speed of one's connection.

Anyhow, I hope some folks DL the System 9.2.1 update and post their DL time in minutes/seconds. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I'm using Comcast on wi-fi. :D I believe I was the only person on at that time..... although, there is a very slight chance my mom was on, probs just viewing one page on Safari.
I'm in Nashville, using the Atlanta service... and while running the test, I was using im and had 4 tabs besides the speed test open, 3 of them on here, 1 on my Gmail.
Anyways, I did the test 14 times b/c the download speed was varying bunches from test to test... once it said 2400, another time it said 16000.
Anyways, my averages:

Download: 8519kbps
Upload: 355kbps

How long does it take you to DL the Mac OS 9.2.1 North American English update which is 82MB in size?

Based on your average DL speed test, I estimate that it will take about 80-90 seconds.

Looking forward to hearing your result.
