Illinois State University.

Too bad I can't punch through their firewall to use BitTorrent.

Gotta love campus networks, UT doesn't care about torrents, charge us for throughput only. Works great on 12GB a week.

So how long does it take you to DL the Mac OS 9.2.1 North American English update which is 82MB in size?

Looking forward to hearing your result.

Welcome to the 21 century. I would love FiOS in my hood (right now have 6MBps Comcast Cable). How much per month.

It's $45 per month for our 15Mbps connection. They also have a 5Mbps one for $35, and a 30Mbps connection for $180. I got the 15 since it seemed to be the best, price/speed ratio wise anyways.

You could, but by DL'ing the same file is removes some of the variables.

In case you weren't joking about finding the file, here is what you do:

- Go to www.apple.com

- Click on the SUPPORT tab

- Enter "9.2.1 download" in the search box

- Click on the "Mac OS 9: Available Updates" link

- Click on the "Download" link for the 9.2.1 update

- Click on the disk icon under software for the North American English version (It should have an 82MB listed under the icon.)

- Click the I AGREE button

- Get ready to start your timer.

- Click on the disk icon under software for the North American English version (It should have an 82MB listed under the icon.) Yes, this is the second time that you click on it. Note, it may ask you if it is okay to DL the file. Click ok.

- When done, stop your timer and determine the total time to DL the file.

Note, the fastest that I have ever DL'ed this file is 7 seconds with my friends FTTH (Fiber To The Home) connection. The slowest with his connection was 12 seconds. He paid about $45 per month.

Now that I've posted the details on how to do it, I hope to see some times! :)

My old p.o.s. DSL ISP

My new, cheaper, bigger cap super awesome cable ISP

Upload speed is about the same, only a 10k difference, but heck the download speed is super fast.

Down: 1024 mbps
Up: 512 mbps

I though I had fast internet, until I saw the guy that had like 38 mbps.:( :p

we recently upgraded to 6mbps down/768kbps up dsl; it seems the speed measures widely from test to test though--some tests say ~2mbps some say ~4 or 5--speakeasy says around 4. i don't really notice the 4x faster dl speed, but the 2x faster uploads are XDD

Here's mine, over my Airport connection. Don't know if it would be faster directly plugged in to the modem or router. But man, those are some slow upload speeds. Damn you Comcast!
