I'm only getting 2.1 MB/s from for the 9.2.1 update. That's quite slow since I can easily get 4-7 MB/s elsewhere. The problem with the web site tests, is that they don't give you a real picture of your throughput.
While I realize there are a lot of factors involved, DL'ing Mac OS 9.2.1 update (82MB) from the Apple web site and timing how long it takes you can get a better estimate of the real throughput of your connection.
I've seen numerous folks get high marks from various web site connections only to have a much slower connection when DL'ing Mac OS 9.2.1 update.
So give the DL a try and then post how long it takes you.
BTW, the fastest that I've seen is my friend who had FTTH. When he DL'ed Mac OS 9.2.1 his average time was 9-10 seconds. Fastest was just under 7 seconds and the slowest was 12 seconds. He paid about $40 per month for his connection.
Hmm I thought its gonna be better than that
They should have more space. When Im going over 100 000 kbps its showing up with an error

crickey...lucky thing.
I can get Ubuntu images over http and BitTorrent a heck of a lot faster.Interesting.
The reason for the 9.2.1 DL, is that it is a large file. Many times smaller files will be DL'ed more quickly. Not sure why that is, but it does happen from what I've seen. That is why I prefer the larger file to test the actual throughput.
To me, a speed test is immaterial compared to the actual throughput that one can observe with a large file DL or UL.
Yeah Im connected directly to University Network. I dont know how fast is that but if i download movie from iTunes its always ...less than a minute....
wow i sooo wish that i was at that sped. ur lucky lol, and u dont get charged!!! (apart from uni fees lol).
Assuming 60 seconds for the DL time, and about 1.3GB for the movie, that would put you at 21.7MBps or 173.3Mbps which is fantastic.Yeah Im connected directly to University Network. I dont know how fast is that but if i download movie from iTunes its always ...less than a minute....

That also means that you must have a Giga network infrastructure for the university network.
With FTTH, which my friend had, it would take him less than 2.5 minutes do DL a movie from iTunes.
Its even better than that. Its University paying me And YES I have it home for free.. How about that??
