That is awesome! Do you have a hi-res original/link for that by any chance? Would like to see how it looks on my 27" display!
Well I'm not really going to try to convince anyone, as everyone has different needs, and so different OS's will work better for some than others. For me, switching wasn't really a problem, I don't use any OS specific apps (this is the biggest hurdle, if say you need Photoshop or MS Office or something), and I've used linux before so moving back wasn't a big deal.
The only real problem I ran into was my external harddrives. I had to reformat all 6TBs worth since linux doesn't like the mac HFS format, which meant bouncing a lot of data around, which took days. The main reason why I switched is because I really truly don't care for Lion, and honestly after playing with linux for a month, I can't see me going back to OS X, as I'm quite content. (Though ironically I still have Snow Leopard running on a Dell netbook that I have as my backup machine.)
Yes you're right, it's not the default theme. It's a few custom themes and mods mixed together, on Gnome 3.
if you use obsidian a lot of the normal icons have faults. you can't use quick user change because it stays black and if you use a clock or the date you need meridian
what a horrible app.
I use obsidian because everything is still in color with it. Here is my desktop:
