I know where you're coming from. Don't think I'll be able to use the Gimp until it feels less gangly, on OS X or otherwise. Very anxious for the GEGL work to be matured to the point where CMYK is feasible. I wouldn't mind trying to make a jump to Linux for my workflow. I have an Ubuntu machine set up beside me and use it fairly frequently. But I won't be able to do so until there is a quality NLE replacement for Final Cut. I have high hopes for Lumiera.
Yeah, the reality for me as well is that there are just some programs that have benefited greatly from competition models and are closed and irreplaceable. MATLAB performance far outpaces Octave in so many areas, for one example.

add your apps folder to dock.. and that will make it open up likethat?

Note the Adium Star Wars icon on the folder side or the divider. It's a folder were I have aliases to programs I don't use as much like Photoshop, FCP, etc.
no worries, these are all the black icons i have, the ones not included are ones I made in PS & are one off's
Well its not new but ive done some changing.
the trashcan is a dashboard icon and when its full its a ferrari dashboard icon.
the folder that has a bunch of colors on it is my applications folder.
the box looking icon is my home folder.
and the 3 world icons are in left to right, safari, firefox 3.1 beta, and firefox 3
and the weird black circle icon next to xcode is eclipse (its an icon of an eclipse)
o and they are grouped in right to left, utilities, media, work, stuff, then a space for new icons to appear, then apps, home, and downloads, then trash.
