Well, I keep changing mine around; I can never make up my mind. I'm also trying out the dock on the left. It's very different, but then I do my best to "Think Different." ;)

And it's not my Dock; but I thought I'd throw it in anyway.

(Is there an easy way to change the "Network" icon? W/o more software?)

cmd-shift-4 lets you select the size of your screenshot (as opposed to cmd-shift-3 which does the whole screen). It is then saved to your desktop as a PDF, which you can then subsequently export as a JPEG using Preview.

You can also screenshot the entire screen w/ cmd-shift-3 and then once open in Preview you can hit apl-3 to select the "selection tool". Select the area you want and then apl-C for copy, and then apl-N for new document from clipboard. It opens a new preview window with the copied area in it which can then be saved as a separate file.

I prefer this method, especially when you have a use for your full desktop shot and just want to snip a part of it in addition.

Did you mean PNG, (not PDF), because that's what it is on my computer, in which case, you don't need to export as a JPEG, do you?

From memory: Screenshots were in PDF form in Panther (and could not be changed like they could in Jaguar). In Tiger they are PNG as default, but can be changed (e.g. with TinkerTool), I've changed mine to JPEG.

You can also (at least in Tiger) change the default location of screen shots (if you don't like them clutter up the desktop), by opening Terminal and write:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /path/to/Screenshots/

It's already been clarified, but yes, since I am still on Panther, it is indeed PDF format, not PNG. :)

Which effect? I used candybar for the icons, found some icons called 'flat white bezel,' and UNO for the skin. Oh and some blank dock separators. If you have trouble finding any of it with google let me know and I'll try to help you out more.

What caused the red in the dock above the trash?

Edit: Well how about that. Opps

4/10

Its actually: Finder, Mail, MSN Messenger (yes I know Adium is better), Safari, iTunes, Coverflow, Photoshop, iPhoto, Limewire, Bits on wheels

As for it being a UI nightmare, I honestly can't remember the last time I navigated through the Finder trying to find something. I have a great workflow for everything and know exactly where everything is on my computer so I can really enjoy the nice clean, simple look. :D

Well I was a little off with Word and Excel. I'd recommend Acquisition and Azureus over Limewire and Bits on Wheels.
