P.S. use http://www.panic.com/candybar/ to help customize your icons, you can do it manually but its not as easy and some icons wont change.

- Log into an admin account.
- Navigate to System -> Library -> Core Services -> Dock.app.
- Back-up Dock.app.
- Right-/ctrl-click Dock.app, choose Show Package Contents.
- Navigate into Contents -> Resources.
- Replace the two files trashempty.png and trashfull.png with the new files with the exact same name (remember that they are case-sensitive), you should be asked for your admin password to do this.
- Repair permissions (this is actually one of those things that mess them up ).
- Relaunch Dock (or log out and back in) and you should be done.

Finder is in a Dark Grey to tell it apart from other apps (when cmd-tabbing etc). All other apps are in Light Grey.
The other Dark Grey icons are my College folders - Graphics, ICT, Maths and Media.
And Pink icons are my current projects, being my Visual Diary and a site for Littlehampton Baptist Church.

I use Quicksilver (but not to it's full potential), and until I read your post, I'd never really thought about "ditching" my dock.
Perhaps this is a better way for me to really force myself to use Quicksilver.
