the topic says car, as in singular so it'll have to be a 911 GT3:

The Saab 9-5 SportCombi (ng9-5). 27 cars ever manufactured. Unfortunately, you cant rationalize it economically since there are no spare parts whatsoever. And its uninsurable. Also not a single mechanic (including Svenska Bil*) will even touch it. Even with gloves, a hazmat suit and a ten foot pole.

Lets not forget to mention that the lot of them are VIN blacklisted. There is only one registered car in the country. They're practically impossible to get road legal.

I recently read an article about someone who went through many hoops to try and get one registered. Crazy. I'd love either one of these or a sedan model of these 9-5s, such beautiful cars.

Even with the Subaru fanboy in me, I must agree with you, old BMW's in general are just really good looking cars! (I have heard nice to drive but never driven one)

I will own an e30 M3, a 2002 Tii Turbo, and a Jagermeister 635Csi, and a '77 911 3.0 one day.

Hopefully gonna get a 2005 WRX pretty soon, maybe get the Wagon and do an STi engine swap :)

That's the bug eye era right??

I have a Wrangler slightly lifted (3.5") with lockers on both axles because I'm an "emergency essential" employee which means I have to go to work come he** or high water and one of those two things is generally happening when there is an emergency.

Yeah, the car is local. I know the bloke who did the first MOT on it, he's the one that usually does the MOT on my cars too. Nice bloke btw, but a stickler for protocol.

The owner had to first register in Germany, then register in in Sweden, which of course isn't easy when the VIN number is blacklisted in the STA database. He had to appeal twice, I think, before the STA was willing to accept the perfectly legal German EU-type documents for the car. Took around ten months all in all if I remember correctly.

Yeah, the STA are the most annoying bunch of bureaucrats I've ever come across, and i work for them, unfortunately.

That's neat that you know him, has he talked about the car?

The process of getting one registered sounds crazy. I'm sure that it took a lot of patience and also a lot of hoping that it all goes well.

Do you visit any Saab forums or websites? Which ones do you visit?

No not really. I only saw the car once in person too. You don't really want to advertise a car like that, especially in my home town. Shiny things tend to disappear, you see. Sticky fingers everywhere.

Well, when the bloke first got the car, he told a journalist that "I'm getting this car on the road, period." There wasn't any hoping involved, just a whole lot of determination. Personally, I would've just swapped the VIN, way less work, even though its not exactly kosher. Under Swedish law its pretty easy to get away with it. And the the STA doesn't really care anyway.

I mostly visit Saabsnacket and Saab turbo club of Sweden. I've popped into Saabscene once or twice. Though admittedly, I'm not much of a saab fan. Sure I like em, but not to the extent some people do. My father is the saab fan of the family.

If you really want that car you should buy one soon. As of model year 2015 (August 2014) the T6 engine will not be available.

Hope I can win the lottery soon then :( that's the only way I will ever afford a new car...

Unfortunately that a bit beyond my reach, mate. But what I can do is arrange a sweet deal on one of those if you decide to swing by Stockholm someday. My girlfriend's father is the sales manager at one of the local dealerships.
