Yeah, I imagine I'd get my money back if I were to sell it. They only made this model for a year or two, but have recently come out with a similar model. At the time, they only offered that neck inlay ('Vine of Life') on a John McLaughlin double-necked model & an Earl Scruggs mandolin, as well as the Bob Weir ax.

My Ibanez has a solid ash body with "Ivoroid" & abalone binding, and hard-rock maple neck with ebony fingerboard. Rather heavy to play, with unique & strong tones from special-wound Ibanez pickups. Built to last & be played. Especially on stage.

I have a few guitars. Here's my 'rockier' guitar, a custom shop washburn n4 in padauk.

Also, there's a pic of my mini recording setup that i had, when i was in the USA in 2006. Now i am back in the UK. And i have a mbp and a mac pro in my studio :D

Edit: weird, the colours in the thumbnails are a bit fugged up.

at $369 street, this was a great deal, ibanez AS-73 cherry

http://www.ibanez.com/hollow/series.aspx?s=as

my other is an esp/ltd viper 301 which is an sg copy or variant with offset horns and i paid $519 for that one

http://www.espguitars.com/guitars_viper.html

it's a model that no longer exists but is between the 200 series and the 400 series

my guitars are both budget versions of the $2500 ibanez scofield and $3400 dollar esp viper
custom (street prices) and if i had that type of money, i would get a mac pro if you know what i mean

i'm really keen to get/try out one of those ibanez jazz guitars...

the AS series is a good beginner to intermediate jazz guitar, or a good second guitar for a professional jazz musician

the top of the line george benson and john scofield models i tried were amazing but even used, maybe you can get one for $1500 so the pro models in ibanez's line are very pricey nearing three grand with case brand new

personally, that's a lot of paid jazz gigs ;)

hi - for me, it would just be something i could go further with my jazz interests. i have very valuable guitars, but i'm by no means a jazz player (yet ;)) and can't justify spending so much on a jazz guitar. at the moment i use my les paul to get a jazzy sound - something hollow and jazzier would be nice :)

i know many will disagree with me, but i think with digital effects and amps with different modeling, you can make your les paul sound just like any semi-hollowbody or hollowbody guitar

in the first jazz class i sat in on, both guys had hollow jazz guitars (335 and gretsch) but they also had a les paul and stratocaster, too and their playing techniques made them sound jazzy more than having a hollowbody or a solidbody

it's kind of like a little fraternity where jazz guitarists like the f-holes and there is a deep tradition with jazz and hollow guitars

but i think your les paul is suited well for the job

boss makes an electric guitar effect that can make your electric solidbody sound like an acoustic or a hollowbody electric and its very convincing and nobody will notice

a les paul, like the custom i had, can get most sounds

of course clean and distorted electric sounds are great with a les paul and are right there...you can put the selector switch in the middle and turn down the volume pots of both and get a single coil tone as a studio player once showed me (also down the midrange setting on amp, too to help this fender-like effect)

and like the acoustic pedal effect box, you can get the rest of the tones

i used to have 4 or 5 guitars around to get all the sounds but i found with two, i am ok now

sure, i can get pretty close just by using the neck pickup and rolling some of the tone down - but still, it's not as fun, and these guitars are cheap ;)

if you have a woman, then try to get that logic past her ;)

i used to have a double bed and have a guitar or two in there, just in case i had an idea for a song in the middle of the night

and then i had stuff on the walls, too, and in the closet, and maybe one at a buddy's house

i found i only have two hands, and just because i hate switching from roundwound rock strings to flatwound jazz strings back and forth on one guitar, i can justify having two guitars, one with each type of string

how many guitars do you have and does it cramp your living space?

since this is a computer forum, as for computers, i used to have eight, but now have narrowed it to two being used and two in storage

my whole living room used to be full of computers and peripherals and it looked like an office, and not a house

but i have since wised up and got rid of computer clutter, and guitar clutter

ME==super jealous. I looked all over for that green color on the LP. I was too late and it was already discontinued. I ended up picking up the last Standard Faded with a 60s neck that I could find anywhere (Tobacco).

Here it is with my '90 JEM. Then my pride and joy (and my dad's legacy) a single owner '64 ES-335 in Cherry. The third is a poorly lit close-up to show the details. I would also have a late 50s flying V but it was swiped by my dad's bunk mate in Germany during the Korean War.

The one that is behind it is a cheapo Yamaha that has a place of honor as my first guitar.

I use pure Nickel Ernie Ball stings on the Gibsons, it gets an awesome tone.

I'd try an Epiphone ES-175, or an Epiphone Dot model. Really great guitars, especially for the money.

You could add a more legit pickup in the neck position, and you are looking at minimal cost for a really great tone.

I always wanted a super fast Jem like yours and other poster's Jem. Sometimes I just want to play fast and dive bomb, and it's usually when I am having a very hard time with jazz chording. In jazz, it's the chording that is so much harder than the soloing.

We did have one little 9 year old girl, or younger, who was in our jazz orchestra and she played some metal guitar Ibanez with a trem. It was kind of cute and she got all the attention.
