It's not worse to my ears ;). Love the Xin Mini. My tastes bend towards dynamic, crisp sound, and the Ue500+classic combo is pretty warm.

Interesting approach. As a musician, I prefer really high quality audio for serious listening, that's why I use my V6-Stages. :)

anyone having issues with the mic/volume remote? I purchased a pair of beats solo 2 and it does not work, I worked a few times but now its not working at all, tested on 2 different iPhones

is this an issue with my cable or a known issue with iOS 8?

turned out it was an issue with the cable tested on other iphones to determine that

best part is, when I brought them in to exchange(it was only 10 days old) I noticed they were on sale $22 off and the extended waranty was also $20 cheaper than the original purchase so I saved clost to $50 after tax

if the cord was not malfunctioning I dont think I would of even noticed either of the two sales

What's the best headphones to get in the 200-300 dollar range for using on iPhone/iPad?

I'm looking for a good pair especially when I'm on a plane traveling. Working with a 3ds and ps vita would be great too if a Bose or sennheiser were compatible.

I'd say your best bet would be these Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones.

If you buy from the link above, you get a free Slappa hard case to protect them when traveling. I just bought this combo, and I have to say they are my best sounding headphones so far, and I have a lot of them, (Sure, Sennheiser, Bose, ect.).

If you've perused this thread, you'll see that many other members agree these are some good cans. As far as compatibility with your portable games, yes these are compatible with both systems, iPads, and iPhones. The jack is pretty universal. They also come with multiple cables, so you can pick which one works best for you. Good luck! :)

After much consideration I've decided on the most ideal set up for me.

Portable headphones: Beats Solo 2

attachment.php

For the price point (I even got them on sale on Black Friday) they are fantastic. Compact, very balanced sound (with a slight lean towards the bass), closed, and it looks nice as well. All important factors for a portable headphone. I thought every beats headphone before is was mediocre, but this is a really solid quality headphone for the type!

Home headphone: Phillips Fidelio X2

philips_fidelio_x2-4_copy.jpg

I wanted a non compromising headphone for dedicated listening. I was thinking about the Sennheiser HD 600, but this one did not need. An external amp to power it. So I thought this would be best. Incredible sound. It sounds like I am at a concert during every song! The build quality is top notch, comfort is great, it's really a fantastic indoor headphone!

I tried different headphones, but between comfort and sound quality it just was not working out. I figured two headphones would better utilize my audio needs!

That is a nice phone case -- is that an iPhone? If so do you have a link to the case?

My wife just handed me these about 2 hours ago.

Probably the best headphones I've listened to.

Bowers & Wilkins P5 Series 2

This is what was in reach of my desk...

Pioneer HDJ-2000
Technics RPDH-1200
a few new beats that will be given away.

I also have a few dozen pairs of EarPods which i LOVE, some Sennheisers, AIAIAI's and a few IEM's (including a custom pair).

Might be looking into some grados soon, and a pair of beats for myself.

I just received the Beat By Dre Studios.

I have to say I'm very disappointed. I am coming from the Solo HD's which I love. I can't stand the hissing from the noise cancellation. I thought mine were defective but after reading/research its apparently normal. They are very comfortable and look great, but I can't live with the hissing!

I will be returning them for a refund and going to look for something else.

What do you guys recommend?

These are easily very best headphones I have ever had. They have travelled (quite literally) across continents with me.

These headphones have a number of features that have hugely impressed me: outstanding build quality and materials (not least that wonderfully soft leather); excellent audio; utter comfort - they are easily the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn; and they are wonderfully portable. Actually, I cannot recommend them highly enough….

I normally just use the EarPods that came with my old iPhone 5 but after seeing the story on the front page about Master and Dynamic headphones being added to the Apple Store, I pulled my old Panasonic RP-HTX7's out of the closet for a listen. They still sound pretty good considering they only go for about $40 these days. I think I paid $75 from Target back in '09. I need a volume/play/pause button in line though, then I'd be really happy.

A little over a week ago, the sound in my right ear-piece of my P5s went dead, to my inexpressible dismay, as I really do love these headphones.

A trip - a week later - to an authorised dealer revealed the fact that the cable had broken on the right ear-piece. Some tweaking and tender loving care then proceeded to take place, whereupon my headphones were handed back to me, in perfect condition, without it costing me a cent/penny/dime.

That's great news! As you know, I recently was sent a new replacement cable for mine at no cost. Just one question, as in the previous post (I can't remember the exact word as typing this) but he mentions P5 "series 2" or 'version 2'? Is there an updated version?

Thank you.

Re your query, to be honest, I don't really know.

I do know that Bowers & Wilkins did produce a limited edition special P5 in navy blue leather, called 'The Maserati', which, apart from being made of soft navy leather (with a small metal Maserati logo) instead of the standard black leather - is identical to the original P5 in terms of specifications.

Yes there is an updated version. B&W updated allmost their entire line-up of speakers and headphones, marked my 'S2'.

I have my P5's for allmost 4 years now and still love them. The cable is a pain though, much too thin. But their customer service is top notch, replacing my 2 broken cables for free.

That is very interesting. When did this occur?

Now, I did notice a serious sale last summer (which is when I decided to buy B&W MM 1 speakers, and the stunning B&W Zeppelin speaker both at a very attractive discount).

Yes, I have had my P5s for almost four years, too, and absolutely love them. Best headphones (for my needs) ever.

Thanks a lot for your reply and for taking the time and trouble to post this link.

Have you an idea what the differences are in reality between the updated version and the original P5s, or have you tried out the updated version?

Indeed, does this mean that the entire line & range of B&W products - speakers as well as headphones - have been updated as well?

I have the 685 speakers and I know that they've been updated this year so I guess they update all their range from time to time.

I didn't get a chance to listen to them, but they used the same technology as the P7's so I assume it does sound a little better.

I was planning to buy the 685's as well, but the CM1 serie also received an update and it looked so much nicer in the 'piano' black paint. Plus the speaker grill now uses magnets, so no more holes in the new speakers :)

Wow. Thank you kindly, both of you.

Actually, I have just taken a long, hard look at the B&W website. The PM1 speakers look simply fabulous, too…...
