Recently bought a pair of Bose QC25's as I travel a lot and I am loving their noise cancellation ability. They replaced a pair of on-hear Senhesier headphones that also had active noise cancelling but the over-ear design of the Bose and NC is just fantastic for flights.

I'm no audiophile so the sound quality is fine for me. They are a bit pricey, but given that my last pair lasted me around 5 years, these should also turn into a good investment.

Hey guys,

upgrading my B&W P5 to the series 2, they will be coming in the post tomorrow. What i would like to know is how you guys think is best to "break-in" the headphones as i have never done / had good enough ones to do before, cheers.

I just played music through them, 4 to 12 hours at a time up to 200 hours.

My two favorite headphones. :)
AKG K1000, for those who are not familiar with these classics...

Wow! Those were my holy grail back in the day when i was a student and could only afford <$200 headphones.

What amp are you using? After almost a year of researching and testing, i bought a nice WA5 with some upgrades.
The only headphones with proper sound stage. :)

Has anyone tried Apple in ear headphones? A mate of mine swears by them?

Dual BA drivers for $79 US is a steal.

Some of the negative reviews on the Apple site are obviously from people that don't know how to fit in-ears.

I use an RWA 30.2. They are mostly laying in their boxes though, as I prefer speakers these days.

IMO, there are much better options for the money. Klipsch Image series can be had for under 100.

I had 2 pairs of Klipsch Image V10's and had to send both back as the sound in one ear went off. A pity as they were amazing.

For those long travels (airplane, train, bus, ..) it's nice to have a pair of noise cancelling headphones. :)

Can anyone recommend a pair of in-ears? Looking to spend around $150.
Would like the inline remote. Maybe wireless/bluetooth. But battery is a concern. (Jaybird blue Bird X comes to mind) How big are they. Are they heavy because of the electronics and battery?

In the past I've had the klispch S4i, bower and wilkins C5. I currently have the AT M50x which I like but are large to carry around when on the train commuting into NYC. Nothing seems to grab me now.

Any ideas!?

edit - what about the sennheiser momentum earbuds?

Let me know how you find them, and how they compare with the series 1 P5s.

I have the B&W P5 series 1, and will cheerfully attest to the fact that they are the best headphones I have ever had, comfortable, stylish, affording terrific sound, beautifully built and extraordinarily portable.

You should give the P7's a try then. :)

Sennheiser HD650 and a Burson HA-160D.

Actually, I have the P7s and find them excellent; however, I use them when I am at home, whereas for travelling - and I travel quite a lot - nothing beats the P5s.

Do you get the soreness on the top of your head as most people do with the P7's? I have the P7's and tried traveling with them on a 6 hour flight and after close to 2 hours, the top of my head was sore. I was looking to get the P5's but not sure if the same will happen.

Personally, I find the P5s the most comfortable by far of the B&W range.

At first, I found the P7s somewhat uncomfortable - indeed, I did experience that soreness on the top of my head - but found that this improved if I used them more often, and didn't wear them for too long.

The problem is that - as I have the P5s - I haven't worn or used the P7s (i.e. broken them in) anything like as often as I should, precisely because I have the P5s and just wear & use them all the time.

The least comfortable of the B&W range are the P3s - gorgeous looking (and very portable) headphones, but nothing like as comfortable as the P5s.

Thanks for the feedback....makes my decision harder. I was looking into the Sony MDR-1A for travel purposes as they felt very light weight. Now sure how the sound compares to the P5 series 2.

Post your headphones

I've thought for a while how to write this but here goes. I've had the B&W P5 series 2 for few weeks now, having previously owned the first series. I can say that I much prefer the series 2. Firstly, they are more comfortable to wear, the ear pads are softer leather than the original. Sound wise they are superb. I also own the P7's (and C5's) and love em all. I sold my original P5's so it's hard to compare but what I can say is that I was instantly impressed with the series 2. There seems to be a bigger soundstage with the series 2. I'm not very good at describing sound but I can't fault them. Another welcome difference is that the cable seems thicker than the original and the in-line remote easier to use. Very happy with mine.

Been using the P7s for a while now. Easily the best headphones i've listened to (i've not listened to a lot)

I do get that soreness people are talking about but i've suffered worse with other headphones.

I was gonna get the P5S2s but the P7 was significantly discounted that i simply couldn't pass it up. Besides i prefer earbuds for commuting and like Over-the-ears for travel and home.

Overall i'm happy with them and they'll be replacing my QC1s which was starting to show its age (worn, flaky leather).

Any earbud recommendations?

Just purchased these last week. Did not want anything too expensive as I do not use them very often. Pretty decent sound.
