Actually I’ve seen this in iOS 13 when erasing a device as well.
I just filed an enhancement to also add an icon to stacked widgets in the same way as this icon to make it easier to distinguish between a stack and a single widget.
I am using this main page with widgets and my most used apps, and then just the app library..... loving it so far
Same. Deleted all my old folders and app icons I used to have spread over three pages and now have everything moved to the new App Library. 😄
I think if you set up as new, they are just placeholders at first, and will actually install if you tap. One other new thing I discovered is when I installed an app, it went right into the library. I had to drag it out to add to an actual home screen.
If you go to Settings>Home Screen you can change where new app downloads go by default if you like

I can't wait to try this out. So far the biggest item for me will be the Calendar stuff! Oh and seeing what third party developers do with their widgets.
It's just another widget... put the screen in wiggle mode, click the + in the upper right corner of the screen and add the Siri Suggestions widget.
Siri Suggestions, Calendar and Weather... can't wait for the general release so we can start seeing third party widgets.
Apple should've called the app library, launchpad, to make it more macOS like. really curious what third party is allowed to do.

Maps can go either way, in a stack or as an app, but contacts is in Phone, and weather, calendar, music, activity, all those apps that go nicely a widgets in a stack / smart rotation on or off I just remove to app library only. I don’t need the music app when the widget launches it.
Could someone post up the default layout for iPadOS 14 (both pages) on a fresh install please?

Why use two spots for the calendar and weather apps when you have access to them from the widgets?
App library desperately needs better categories. And ultimately control over the layout.
Give them a few years. I can almost hear Craig building up the drama, waiting his trademark 3 beats and announcing the name change. Lol.
Agreed on 3rd party widgets. Looks like they got it right this time so I’m expecting some great things.
