Mine now I’ve gotten rid of the only widget I found remotely useful. I wasn’t even using that when I really thought about it. Nice to go back to the clean look

The menu is part of the shortcuts I create, so that would work perfectly fine with your method too.

I did try it that way but I actually like the 2x2 widgets on the today screen. They're each part of a stack, so there are other widgets "hidden" behind my contacts ones.

Thanks! Is there a way to configure this such that a tap on the shortcut dials a preferred number and the menu with all of a contact’s numbers pops up with a press/hold?

Could you please share this wallpaper?
I keep changing my mind, especially regarding stacks. However, here's mine at the moment. In an attempt to replicate the missing Favourites widget I've created 2x2 widgets on my Today View screen. Originally, I had video, audio & text stacked, but while playing I kept calling people by accident! So I removed the stacks and instead added a menu to the shortcut. That's what the last screenshot shows (after I click "Parents").

Names removed to protect the slightly-innocent.

...its a shame that the native Apple Weather widget isn't animated like it is when you actually open the app (i.e. when its raining, in the app you see the rain falling but in the widget you do not).
Don’t you also find living in the UK where our weather is so varied and changeable by the hour, the Apple weather app is horrendously inaccurate? I can’t wait for a Dark Sky version personally.

Don't know the answer, but it shows on mine, too:

I was looking for that battery levels widget only to find that it had been removed from the old widgets page (see screenshots) and is now one of the new widgets.

So Apple now has two different types of widget, each with different functionality. I also can’t put the new widgets on the old widget page. They have to be on a separate page or amongst your apps.

I get that Apple is trying to add much requested functionality, but this is not an elegant solution. Apple seems to fall just short of the mark so often.

I still like iOS 14 because it’s worth it for Picture-In-Picture by itself!

The battery widget got updated so now there's only the new one that's available and the old one isn't there anymore.

New widgets can also appear on the Today View (widget) screen like the old widgets can. New ones appear at the top while the old ones appear at the bottom there.

Oh man I’m gonna spend way too much time trying to find a layout I like.
iOS 14 involves too much time to get things where your satisfied. My question is why Apple doesn’t have more widgets ready to go. I really do not want to spend all that time creating Widgets and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It sort of reminds me of the shortcuts App

The large stack widget has weather, Fantastical, Reminders, News, Siri Suggestions, Batteries, and Apple Maps.

Lower left widget shows current health readings.

Lower right widget: WaterMinder, Zero, Streaks, and Lose It

So what are the updates in the Battery widget then - looks exactly the same, I can’t see any new functionality vs the original widget?

.....sorry but in what way exactly? Looking at my battery widget right now - it looks 100% the same as it did when iOS 14 first came out?!
The original reply was in response to a post that talked about old (pre-iOS 14) widgets and new (iOS 14 widgets).
