I just got my first iphone about a mo. ago. I loved it except for the noticably poor battery life. The most life I ever got was 1 Day & 14 hrs. of Standy time. My typical use of the device per full charge is a couple of hrs. of phone calls/approx. 10 text messages, a couple of hrs. of browsing the internet WITH 3G OFF, I only use 3g to download apps. B.T.W., this is with the bare minimum power consumption settings such as: WiFi off, BT off, no push/pull e-mail set, brightness adjusted to approx 40%, etc. So, I took it back to the Apple store a few weeks after the purchase to get it tested and see if anything in the software or hardware showed problems. According to the rep. it passed every test.
Well, after explaining to the "Genius Bar Rep" my issues, he assures me that this phone is designed to be charged daily and with any smartphone I shouldn't expect to get more than 1 day of standy/useage before requiring a charge. Nevertheless, I demanded a new phone as a replacement. Let me tell you, BOY I'M GLAD I DID! Check out the specs. of my exact replacement, which I sync'd from my home pc with the exact settings of my original iphone:
The moral of this post. Just because a "Genius Rep" assures you that the battery life shouldn't last more than a day of normal use, doesn't mean he/she is correct.
P.S. To Apple: Kudos to you for making a feature packed extremely innovative device!!!
SHAME ON YOU for misleading your customers by posting obviously overrated specs!!!
One more thing, when I pointed the specs. out to the Apple rep. he said this, "yes, it might get 300 hrs. of standby time with the display never coming on, no phone calls made/received, and no internet useage".
I should've told him, "that's like me telling you this car will last virtually forever, IF you never drive it, or put gas in it, or touch it, etc.
W.T.F. Apple?????!!!!!
