It's still in the Springboard.app but it is named IconBadgeAndCloseBox@2x.png and you can't change the color only the shape.

Here are two different badges and they will always be red.

The name has changed. The file is now called IconBadgeAndCloseBox@2x.png. However, when I replace that file it only changes the shape of the badge not the color. I haven't dug around enough to figure that out yet.

Manually. I'd love to use winterboard, but it doesn't work for A7 devices.

Then you have to put the AppIconMask@2x~iphone in the MobileIcons.framework folder.
The badge isn't so bad...
Enzom21 said it was ok to share, so here's the badge. It will still show up red, it's just for the shape.
And here's a few icons I modded. Messages and Mail I just changed the color, 1Password I added the frame, and The Weather Channel I made. Since I didn't have a psd file they probably aren't quite as polished, but I can't tell the difference on my phone.
Fixed the sms icon(bubble was not centered) so here it is in multiple colors and I made a purple mail icon and weather icon real quick.

Sure. The first one is just a resized one, and then I edited the other one (originally the lines are slanted).

Yes it does. It's not updated for iOS 7. When I was using it I could see a noticeable battery drain.
When I was staying on 6.1.2 with my 5, I never had any battery issues. That was using Winterboard, and a plethora of other things lol.
Here's my setup currently. I like it more with each change I make. Still need to get rid of some of the icons and might change a wallpaper.
The Icons are mostly jaku... some modified. The maps one I'm especially proud of cause I made it myself
