where have u been? these r regular iOS 4 featured folders ...

Well, Ive been living under a big flat rock for about a year now.

So I just updated my 3G to 4.0.1. Where can I find & how do I set up these Category style folders that are now regular featured folders?

Drag one app onto another and it creates a folder and "intelligently" names it for you. Of course, you can always rename it.

Welcome to 4.0.1. How was that rock? :)

Prerequisites:
1. Install OpenSSH through cydia
2a. Windows: Search google for "putty", download and save to desktop.
2b. Mac: Open terminal
3. Get IP address from phone. If SBSettings, it's listed there, otherwise Settings->Wifi

If Windows:
1. Double click putty icon on desktop
2. Enter IP address from above where it says Host name
3. Wait a few seconds. It takes a while the first time. You will be prompted to accept the SSH key. Click yes.
4. Login as root
5. password is alpine

If Mac:
1. Open a terminal
2. Type "ssh root@IP Address from above"
3. Password is alpine

Once in phone:
1. cd /var/stash/Themes and press the tab key, then enter
2. ls -l, note the name of your theme in the list
3. cd <your theme name>.theme
4. cd Icons
5. cp biteSMS.png biteSMS.png.bak
6. cp /var/stash/Applications/MobileSMS.app/icon.png biteSMS.png
7. exit

Respring your phone either through SBSettings, Winterboard or reboot.

This is very good info for us tards...

When I am looking at the themes trying to find 'mytheme' it just looks like a list of items from winterboard (IE Clasklart, dock flow, Saurik). Is there a tell tell sign that it is 'mytheme'?

Winterboard sucks butt as of right now so it's pretty simplistic

'mytheme' will be whichever theme you wish to modify.. In other words, the one you have selected in WinterBoard.

If you're using a theme like Glasklart, don't copy the icon.png from the /var/stash/Applications/MobileSMS.app directory. Instead, in /var/stash/Themes.whatever/Glasklart.theme/Icons, you'll find a Text.png. Copy that one to biteSMS.png and you'll have one that matches the theme your using. :)

Here are two versions of mine. I could probably dig up the name of the theme somewhere. Using Glaskart icons, categories, and iblank to create invisible icons.

looks nice I've been wanting to try categories on 4.0 or 4.0.1 haven't had the guts lol. that is one of the things I've missed but I thought it would cause conflicts.

what if you're not using a theme yet? i'm not using anythign that has an icons folder... just random options in winterboard.

Glad to see you kept the Nexus Live on your lock screen only! I dunno if you knew that the regular home screen live wallpaper makes loading and swiping sluggish.

:)

Btw...that's the stock clock. How did you manage to change that to that bit-looking font?

You can create your own theme by making a directory in that Themes.whatever directory.

mkdir MyTheme.theme (Make the new theme just by creating a directory with the name we want to call it)
cd MyTheme.theme (change directories into our new theme directory)
mkdir Icons (make a directory for our icons)
cd Icons (change into our icons directory)
cp /var/stash/Applications/MobileSMS.app/icon.png biteSMS.png (copy the standard SMS icon to here and call it biteSMS)
cd ../.. (change back to the Themes.whatever directory)
chmod -R 755 MyTheme.theme (change the permissions on the directories we just created so it'll be readable/executable my the mobile user)

Go into WinterBoard and select your new theme.

THIS WALLPAPER WILL MAKE LOADING SOME APPS/FLIPPING PAGES SLUGGISH. It's better to ONLY use it for your LOCK SCREEN! If you want your lock screen to stay on longer, grab "Lockscreen Dim Delay" from Cydia and set your own lock screen timeout.

The lock screen Nexus One Wallpaper also has touch function built-in, so it's interactive when you touch it, unlike the home screen one.

Ok, so I changed this up a bit from my last post. This is actually my lock screen, not my home screen. Got rid of the "OEM" clock and totally removed the slider and background (contemplating just putting the slider in without the background...it looks pretty cool). Also repositioned the Nexus Live Lock Screen clock to the center and down a little so it's not covered when you're syncing. In fact it lies right below it.

I'd show you...but no pictures while syncing. :)

By the way...why don't people just use DiskAid over terminal/SSH? It's SO much easier to get stuff done. I only use SSH when I need to do something DiskAid can't do...which is next to nothing I need.

EDIT: Just realized I need to change the positioning of the calendar underneath right a few pixels...
How did you remove the clock and the slider?

Yeah I know the Nexus live wallpaper makes the home screen a bit slower that's why I only have it on the lock screen...I got the clock font from Fontswap, you can find it in Cydia, you can also change your system fonts, notes fonts etc... it's a nice app.:D

Sweet. Thank youuu! Time to ditch the clock this wallpaper came with...

There's something in Cydia to remove the clock. I think. It's not a Winterboard theme. It's called LockScreen Clock Hide.

The slider I manually removed from the FS with SSH (well I use DiskAid for Windows but everyone here apparently uses SSH).

I know you say this is the Nexus One live wallpaper found in Cydia, but can you be more specific as to which one exactly? And from which repository?

I found a few when searching for Nexus one in Cydia, but they all seem to alter the slide on the lock screen too. I just want the wallpaper to be the live wallpaper. All other iPhone widgets and stuff should remain the same.
the lockscreen one is called nexuslive screen lock and the the normal wallpaper is called neurolines both found in them modmyi.com repo.

How did you get rid of the clock in the lockscreen?
I am trying to find a lockscreen theme that gets rid of the clock and the slider so I can see my wallpaper.

i got rid of it with a tweak called clock lockscreen hide found in cydia in the modmyi.com repo.

I use the background nexus live wallpaper and my iphone is not running slow or sluggish. It works just like it does with a non moving wallpaper. NOT SLUGGISH at all.
