Z's rock !!

<snip>

Dorm neighbors better be ready...

best speakers ever, they shake my 2 story house, I am in love with them.

Haha, I got 2.1 Z2300 and I am even scared to put volume above 20%, cause they are extremely loud. You should duck tape your furniture so it won't move around. :)

Z owner's rock !! I got the Z's as well ! and the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II as well. The Z's make my Home Theater while the Soudnsticks serve better for crisp music. I think freq response (lows and highs) is slightly better on the Harman Kardon. Z ofcourse is a blasting beast ideal for movies and games !

You guys might be looking for stands and tearing your hair apart (soon if you just started looking) looking for Z's. I just ended my research and ended up buying the Sanus HTB4 glass base stands from Amazon. They are probably 1 of the 3 stands that fit the Z's and they look cool !! ;)

This is what I got yesterday. Airport Express 802.11 n.

Ive gotta say, after checking the chumby website, that has to be the most useless gadget ive ever seen, espesh for $180!

Each to their own though

I guess its one of those kinds of gadgets where you don't realize how useful it is until you actually have one. I think its awesome being able to get all my info (weather, traffic info, RSS feeds from different websites, world news, see what's selling on Woot!, track my ebay auctions, stocks, etc.) Without having to turn on my computer or the TV. It's especially useful in the mornings when I don't have much time to get my news. But I agree on the fact that its a little too expensive.

These..haven't played them yet though. No time. Just sitting on my desk

Might be returning the MK...game reviewers say it sucks. The only reason i got it was because it had good reviews from Amazon. Go figure

but at least I have respect for my neighbors.
Apparently you didnt read my last post.

How do these speakers connect to a macbook, or can they only connect to a soundcard with 5.1 output? Sorry, i'm new to this, and looking into speakers at the moment
If the setup uses 3 3.5mm connectors (like my previous 5.1 system), then I can take a tri-3.5mm adapter to 2-RCA outputs (for video games), hook a RCA cable to an RCA-to-one 3.5mm adapter and hook it to the input jack on the macbook.

I suppose someone can tell you who has one, or I can tell you when I get it.

IBM CPD-220. It can do 2048*1536 @ 75Hz (easily handle full 1080 HD) & is one of the only CRTs to have a DVI connection. £98 including delivery, should be here tomorrow :)

I have a 17" LCD & three 15" LCDs but they're simply too small & too low-res, plus the colour reproduction isn't good enough. I pulled a 20" Trinitron CRT & a 21" Diamondtron CRT from a skip last year but whilst they both have small faults, they reminded me how much I prefer CRTs to LCDs. So as I just sold an iBook I found in the same skip for £76 on eBay I figured I would put the money towards a new monitor!

Apparently you didnt read my last post.
I did. I equated "I've gotten so many noise complaints" as disrespectful to your neighbors.

But then surely every channel would get the same feed? I.e. it wouldn't really be surround sound but the same thing coming out of every speaker?

Thus, still didnt read it.

Vast majority came from upstairs, while the neighbors next to us said they didnt care. (Same in the area im in now), so therefore No in one case. Plus, I also stated that I told them if its too loud to let me know, but I havent gone over the 25% marks when I had my second dorm. Once again. Also, my ex-doormate had a 5.1 receiver system as well. Since he was a senior, he had his **** louder than I did half the time.

But then surely every channel would get the same feed? I.e. it wouldn't really be surround sound but the same thing coming out of every speaker?
Fine with me. I got them for a good deal, I dont need them to sound like a real 5.1 system. Before you go and say its a waste we'll I worked for that money so I could give 2 ***** about your opinion with what i do with a 5.1 system.

Plus, the system I do that for Im only using the L/R & C channels, meaning I needed 2 out of the 3 mm jacks it has.

Z or no Z ?

Enjoy them, people on here seem to be loving them :D

I connect my Z's with my MBP and MB using a toslink-mini toslink connector I got from Monoprice.com (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022902&p_id=1571&seq=1&format=2)
If you have Perian(supports Dolby ProLogic II) installed in Quicktime, you can get great sound from your MB/MBP optical audio port. It's a huge difference compared to the standard 3.5 mm cables. Apart from that for music(which is 2 channels) you cannot do anything but replicate channels on a 5.1 system. I play around with the Effect (DL Movie, DL Music, Stereo, Stereo X2, Direct 5.1) till I get the best sound. If I recall correctly, its StereoX2..
In my personal opinion, Z-5500 is not "the best" for crisp music with nice frequency response/fidelity. It's great for powerful sound(Home theater/games) but I prefer my Harman Kardon SoundSticks II for music. Just my personal experience with both my systems.
BTW, I got to post my last purchase as well (I post quite regulalrly:D )
Got myself 2 stands for the rear satellites of the Z. They would vibrate n rattle on the wall mounts !!
