Just came home with a new puppy tonight. Cute little girl.

An Acer Aspire One... for better or for worse, to replace my MacBook, which is going to my brother, as he lost his Thinkpad.

So... now I'm Mac-OS-X-less. I know. It's a bit of a scary thought. I've gone back to XP. But soon.. new hard drive + Leopard on my desktop. Hackintosh, here I come!

Apple hardware is just too expensive to justify purchasing it now. I'll make due with an iPhone or iPod.

Pictures later.

Just got this guy finally for backing up the old G5 drives....

But then, I go online to get the image for it and see this, and am very jealous...

The price is a bit high for what I am paying for, but I still have a lot of reading to do on it.

My HP laptops battery is fried and I have been waiting for new MacBooks(air)(pro) for 9 months so for school needs (MS Word/Excel/Browsing on the Go) I picked up a MSI Wind for $539 (+ taxes $609 :O damn Canada).

Specs:
1.6ghz atom processor, 1GB ram, 80GB HDD, XPhome, 2.6lbs (with 6-cell battery - about 5 hours).
I needed something that had a long lasting battery and liked the MSI looks the best compared to the Asus eee 1000h and Acer Aspire One.
So far I'm loving this little thing! Going to upload to 2GB and maybe install OSx.

Oh and I also got this little boy* over the weekend:

My new toys

I just bought another twinset (or a new set of doubles for all you American divers) to maximise my wreck diving. Two wrecks a day and no nearby source of refills makes for 2 short dives.:(

I solved it though, and now with sets of twins I can kick the arse out of both dives - hence why my diving chums call me Captain Deco.:)

Anyway - I am more German then English so I decided to honour that by Deutsching up my new set which were a boring grey before.:D

Why did you get the Wind over the One? It does look like it has a bigger screen and a more spacious keyboard, but the One with comparable specs (and more hard drive space) is $150 cheaper.

Also, if the Wind can run OS X, can the One? With so much hard drive space I think it'd be fun to tinker with!

Here's a picture. Just purchased yesterday. :)

Did you get the ONE with a 3 or 6 cell battery?

Regardless of that, how's the battery life on those?

I've got some experience with netbooks and what I've learned is a six cell on any of these computers will yield nearly five hours of battery life on saver mode. 8.9 inch screens are the same resolution (save the 2133) as the 10 inch.. but 10 inch is that much sweeter. The Aspire one can be had for $400 or so and the 1000h for $450..

I guess the real upside to the wind is the 1.9 ghz overclock but if you use SetFSB you can crank out just north of 2.0 GHz on my EEE 1000h.

Regardless of which one you buy your going to have one sweet and inexpensive machine.

Grats on your purchases!
