I will tonight also buy myself a ice skating ticket to skate tonights session with some friends. That'll only cost about £3.90 though. :D

A meat selection gift box. It contains:

2 Fillet Steaks, individually packed, minimum weight 160g
2 Ribeye Steaks, individually packed, minimum weight 210g
1 Pavé Rump Steak, individually packed, minimum weight 170g
4 Pavé Rump Medallions, in pack of 4, minimum weight 280g

From here. A present for my Dads birthday.

Got it for £31.

OH BABY! That steak looks sooooooo good although at 160g probably a bit small for me. I demolished a 500g Argentine fillet steak last week at a Gaucho Grill in London. I insist on eating them scarily rare too - I look like vampire after I finish them

Eww! Isn't it just like eating cold raw meat? Or is it warm all the way through?

If you take off about 1mm off the edges then I am effectively eating red raw cold meat.

They have to take it out of the fridge and let it stand at room temperature for about 15 minutes because it otherwise spends so little time getting cooked that if you took it out of the fridge and cooked it straight away, the middle would be very cold.

Like I said, scarily rare but I love it.

That's quite interesting. I don't mind a tiny bit of pink (medium - well done).

Do you still like it if you eat it like that?

No - I absolutely insist on eating a good steak as rare as possible. I think I was probably a lion or a tyrannosaurus rex in a previous incarnation :)

Everyone should try eating steaks like I do at least once - it's absolutely breathtaking. Some people don't because they think the meat is really tough or that it tastes bad but it's completely the opposite - fillet steak is more tender when raw and cooking all the juices out of it impairs the flavour - the juice and blood give it a texture and taste which is much more interesting.

And there's no health risk to it because the meat inside has never come into contact with the environment until you cut it open so no bugs like e-coli, listeria, botulism etc. it's for this reason that I always have burgers well done - never understood the 'rare' burger.

I had always wondered about the bacteria side of things, I never thought about how the inside is never in contact with the environment.

I think I'd have to go in phases - from medium-well done then to medium. I physically don't think I could eat anything rarer, the blood would be an instant gag reflex for me. I think it would be anyway...

Just a thought, what about sushi or ahi fish? I love ahi tuna, but i never thought about it touching air.

Perfect timing by NewEgg, just got this for $44 shipped. I just removed my superdrive yesterday to make way for my OptiBay. Got this for those once in a blue moon times I need an optical drive.
