My iPhone fell in a glass of orange soda by accident =\ so the upper screen does not respond to my finger while the lower screen works. And I was really drunk and started messing with iTunes and I accidently deleted all my contact lists. So I have all these random numbers in my recent call list.

So I am getting a blackberry curve for T-Mobile. iPhone chapter is closed.

ALWAYS bring a back up phone when you go out drinking man, I have a pebl for those nights , this is exactly what I try to avoid but if it does happen it's a $50 phone as apposed to a $500 + replacement iPhone.

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood!!

Just received my email that my Coronado Solarmax 90 has shipped. I purchased it back in July during the Coronado Half Off summer sale and so many people ended up ordering one that it caused a huge backorder problem. I was beginning to think it would never ship but I got an email last week from Adorama that their final shipment of back orders was supposed to be coming in and they haven't let me down. I have wanted a solar telescope since I was a child and they are so damn expensive that this half off sale during the summer was really my first real chance at getting one as it was Coronado's biggest sale ever. I took advantage and have been patiently waiting ever since. 7 months later and its on the way!! I am the happiest guy on these boards today!!

Here is my baby!!

And here is what the sun looks like when looking through itl

I don't know if the numbers associated with that lens are similar to the numbers used for SLR lenses, but I wonder if a 600 mm f/5.6 lens, which would pick up a LOT more light than those telescopes and have similar reach, would be better than the Solarmax 60 or 40 or whatever. The extra large aperture woudl also allow me to take photos at higher shutter speeds, which may decrease blur due to planetary motion, the Earth's rotation, etc.

I learnt this from watching Oprah.

(no, not really)

No, the solar filters for 35mm cameras are vastly, and I do mean vastly, inferior to dedicated solar telescopes. Its not the focal length of the scope that matters so much as the sun is relatively close given its size. Its the actual quality of the solar filter that really matters and quality solar filters are expensive. They basically scatter light and allow only a small amount of bandwidth of light to go through to your eye or imaging device. In the Solarmax 90 its <0.7Å. You can buy just the filters without the scope. The scope itself is only around 10-15% of the price. You can even double stack your filter and make it <0.5Å which allows you to see a lot more detail in the sun however that double stacking quickly raises the price to around 18,000. If you wanted more focal length you can just buy a larger telescope and buy just the filters from coronado. Either way your going to pay at least 5000-6000 for a quality scope with the ability to see <0.7Å. There is no way around it if you want the kind of quality that those pictures show. Plus your failing to take into account the eye pieces which greatly increase the maximum resolution. Besides the best imaging devices for scopes are not 35mm body's. Also exposures are relatively short so the movement of the earth doesn't come into play as much as it does with other types of astroimaging. As you can imagine there is no shortage of light shooting directly into the sun, even at smaller apertures.

Here is the actual filter for the Solarmax 90.

CDSM9010.JPG

It costs 5045.00. So when factoring that into the Solarmax 90's overall price, the actually tube assembly only represents 16% of the total cost and you get a full set of Cemax eyepieces and a tuner as well so the real cost of the tube assembly is probably closer to 12-13% of the total price. The filter represents 84% and that is where the quality comes into play. Solar filters for 35mm cameras are not even in the same league.

Here is an example of a picture taken with one of the better 35mm solar filters.

and here is the Solarmax 90.

DUDE!

I was actually SOBER, completely. I was eating dinner at the dining hall at my school. I was showing my friend a text message and when I reached my right hand to show him...right under my hand was a glass of orange soda. I use this smooth Iphone plastic cover so it's easy to take out from my pocket. And all of a sudden it slipped from my hand and BAM. It fell into the glass.

I just starred at the glass for 10 secs with a shocking face... My friend was like "WTF YOU LOOKING AT? Take it out from the glass."

:(

Oh well... blackberry curve is good, too. I'm pretty excited.

I bought a new house today! Finally sold my townhouse - and cross your fingers the stimulus plan passes - new home purchases could get a $15K tax credit. Icing on the cake! This is a pic of the spec home, ours is a dirt lot right now :) Also not sure if we will do the 3 car or not - sorta consumes a good chunk of the front... But roughly this house

I've done this. You know what the problem is? The iPhone doesn't have an option to save and read contacts from your SIM card. There's only a "copy from SIM" function and then you're stuck with the onboard contacts storage. I know it's so you can sync your contacts with iSync and have pretty pictures and addresses and multiple email addresses and stuff like that, but for God's sake, it's not difficult to have a "SIM contacts only" function. I'm pretty sure it won't deter too many potential MobileMe customers from subscribing. It means that if and when I upgrade to anything BUT an iPhone, I need to transfer my contacts manually. Also, upon putting my SIM in my backup Nokia, I've lost a bunch of contacts. @*#%ing hell, Apple!

/end rant.

I still bring my Nokia when I go out, as most of my contacts are on the SIM, but it's just frustrating; sometimes I get a text from someone I met while using the iPhone, and of course, all I see is the number. Also, when I get someone's number while I'm out, I have to copy it down in my phone's Notes function or save it as a draft text then remember to copy it to my iPhone when I get home, if I even manage to remember! Christ Almighty!

ok so that wasn't really the end of the rant.

/ resume topic.

Coming from an architect, looks nice :)

Could you post more pics of the inside, or of a floorplan?

A well spent heap of cash! That house is extremely nice, I'm sure when you build it it will look better. Congratulations.

After my second pair of V-moda vibe phones suddenly stopped working (Ive had them for abot month), I figured Ive had it and I might as well buy some cheaper ones. I ended up with these:
of-2.jpg

Creative Ep630. They haven´t got that "solid" v-moda feel (which is a load of rubbish since they end up getting ruined anyway) but at 39$, they sound amazing and are quite comfy to wear. Well worth the money!
