Because there's some idiot out there who thinks gold plated connectors matter on an optical cable and Monster Cable doesn't let ethics stand in the way of making a quick buck or two (or in their case, a quick hundred bucks)

monoprice.com FTW!

Didn't they do some sort of an A/B test using Monster Cables vs. modified coat hangers, and hardly anyone (if anyone) was able to tell the difference?

I have one Monster Cable and it was a gift. I'll keep it just because if it breaks all I do is take it to Guitar Center and get a new one for free. Other than that, monoprice is the only way to go!

My latest purchase. I had the bluetooth version but the batteries leaked inside and it no longer works properly.

well your buddy must have been rude. i have had monster cables replaced that have literally been cut in half. i run P500's on my pedalboard, and for how many times they've been replaced (10+ each for 15 patch cables, and atleast 5 times for each of the leads), the extra price alone has payed for them. and when you are running a large board, with long cables.. you need to keep as much signal as you can. which is where Monster Cable comes into play.

yes they did do that test. with a home theatre system. not with a system with 15+ I/O's in the chain.

and you're right, gold plate might not make a difference on an optical cable.. but when you run a 50 foot cable... it is nice to atleast keep SOME of the original signal. Monster does a good job of keeping things clean. i doubt 50 feet of coat hanger would compare.

What model is it?

VOS 50's or 60's Custom? It doesn't look aged, it looks like a new model with the "new" neck, Not fat 50's or thin 60's.

Is it a New Standard?

its a new traditional in honeyburst, its got a 50's neck and its not chambered like the new standards.

*hugs* "I love you man!"

I can't stand 60's thin necks or the new "medium" necks, I solely use 50's fat necks.

I also prefer non-chambered over chambered ANYDAY. :D:cool:

Sorry to hear about your friend, Bfat567, my condolences.

This software cost me $40, it doesn't work at all with my curve I posted yesterday...

Hey I thought I would let you know I have the curve 8900, and this software and it works perfectly, check and make sure your OSX firewall is set to the default (allow all incoming connections), anything else and it wouldn't connect to my blackberry.

Yeah, the last studio I worked in, we had 36 analog I/O, and I can tell you, we sure as heck didn't use Monster for all those. No, we didn't use coat hangers, but definitely not Monster.

Sounds like someone has given in to the Monster lies! ;)
To each his own, right?
