Yeah. It's also just a very nice wireless mouse, but silly to spend that much if you're not at least going to use it for some games. Although the DPI switching could be useful for other tasks.

Do you know his financial situation? If he has job security in these times, and he's making as much as he did prior to the recession, then he can continue to spend money like he did before.

What do you think of it? I've been considering for a little while now, but I really just don't feel like I need to upgrade from my current G9. I've heard some people say that once you use the Mamba, everything else feels second-rate. But, I heard the same thing before I got my G9. And, with my Razer Armadillo, the cord doesn't ever bother me.

Cool. Thanks for the impressions! I think I'll hold onto my G9 until something else completely blows me out of the water, or it breaks and I have to go shopping. I have zero complaints about the G9... but that Mamba has the cool "shiny new toy" effect.
For a mousepad, I use the Steelseries SX:

It's a bit pricey, but it's by far the best mousepad I've ever used, and makes a big difference in twitch games like Quake or Unreal. Highly recommended, especially considering you just bought a $130 mouse.
