I can never quite believe it when people spend upwards of £1000 just for something a few inches more portable. Credit to you if you've got the money, it just seems weird to me.

What is the value of convenience? If you travel a lot it is understandable as the difference between hauling around a 17" MacBook Pro, which is enormous, and a MacBook Air is considerable.

Ooh I want an Air, they're so sexy and slim.

My most recent purchase as I recall was a bottle of Tanqueray Gin. I wanted Rangpur but alas they were out.

I could never understand it either until I started traveling all of the time. It took me three days of truly mobile work before I dumped a 15" MBP for an MBA.

it's a lot about the extra weight of a 17" or 13 and 15" for that matter compared to a MacBook Air.

Carry a 17" around in your bag for an afternoon, then the next day carry a MacBook Air in your bag. Most people would never go back, especially when a large % of the group then discovers the little MBA can handle all of their mobile computing tasks :D

NOTE: I didn't say 'everyone's' mobile computing tasks :)

Like other says depending on how much you find yourself traveling, it may or may not be worth it. When I pulled out my 17" on an airplane (i'm not cool enough to fly 1st class) I knew there was a big issue. While its cool to let people know you mean business, when you need to ask the person beside you to use their pull out tray for your drink, its just akward
