got 2 Late 2008 unibody MacBooks for ....wait for it....

$200.

Thats right folks. 200 buckaroos. Here's how:

My wife spilled coke on her MBP about 2 years ago, messed up the keyboard but everything else worked fine, so she used it. Traded it for a 12" maxed out PowerBook (1.5 GHz 1.25 Gig ram). Went to Omaha to see my brother over the 4th and picked up a white MacBook (2.1 GHz, 1 Gig ram) and one of the late 2008 Macbooks for $700, (yeah huge steal right there, guy rebuilds busted ones I guess) found out he had another unibody machine which I wanted more than the white one so we went back Monday and got another unibody one for $300. Came back home, now we have 4 laptops:

12" PowerBook G4 (trade for old MBP)
2x 13" MacBook unibodies (with the white macbook = $1000 total)
13" white MacBook

We sold the white MacBook and the PowerBook to my in-laws for $800 total which leaves us with, yessir, $200 out of pocket!!!

Haha you mean $200 on top of the MBP you originally bought. That would seem more correct. Basically you put down $200 and the broken MBP for the unibody. Good deal nonetheless.

Eh I dont count that since it was like 3 years old, and I didnt pay for it ;) But yeah, still only comes out to about $500 if you count the value of the busted MBP

That's like how I sold off my classic mbp for 1k to put down $300 for a core i5 unibody. I still have to count the classic mbp. :p

I'm not trying to plug Acer or anything but that 23" h233h I have had for the past 6 months is awesome. I seriously would consider buying another and I just might. I moved the Acer to my new studio for my design work and I miss it when I am at home! For budget monitors, they perform like premium. I didn't get a dead pixel or anything. Bought it at Best Buy 6 months ago for like 180$.

I would love one of these jackets, but funds are tight at the moment. I know the guy who owns the company too. Couldn't meet a more humble person. Considering they have just floated the company on the stock exchange, he seems very level headed.

I saw your earlier message mentioning your satisfaction with your Acer monitor that's why I didn't quote you in my earlier message, but thanks for reiterating your position on Acer. I guess I need to add Acer to my list of monitor manufacturers to consider.

I never really had them in my list either. I think that they used to have crappy ones but they got their act together or something. I recall friends back in the day being pissed at their Acer stuff. :D I really also heard that the 23" Samsung monitors are good too. Saw one at Best Buy and it looked level with the Acer I bought, albeit maybe a bit more vivid.

I have always heard that samsung is one of the top monitors to get - and the prices match that I suppose. Acer used to have a bad reputation being like one of those best buy brands...but recently I have seen more and more people turn to acer monitors. That is a good thing, that means that the competition out there is getting tighter. That is good for us the consumers!:D
