They cost about $40 and for every pair that is bought a brand new pair is sent to a child in Africa.

Also, you wouldn't believe it but they are extremely comfortable and durable. Also, you dont sweat in them much without wearing sucks. Nice for summer time and all that.

I know about the One-For-One thing. They've conveniently packaged an act of feel-good philanthropy in with your purchase. I'm not against it, I'm just saying that the concept of fulfilling some sort of ethical good with a purchase of poor-quality shoes for yourself doesn't sit completely well with me. Particularly because charity that merely feeds or clothes someone will never solve any underlying issue and only treat symptoms, especially since in this case it raises no awareness about anything. It's out-of-sight, out-of-mind. You're buying shoes, and you feel as though you've done something good because of it, and that's the end of that. But in the end it's just a profit-generator for them. They qualify themselves as a non-profit, but thanks to the structure of their charity, they make... money. In the end, I think our time and money is better spent on a nice pair of walking shoes, so we can walk, not drive, to our volunteer position at the local hospital, or at the Red Cross call centre, or at the Kids Help Line, etc.

Good karma should be earned, not purchased. It's not a criticism against anybody who buys Toms shoes, just against the concept that we can purchase something for ourselves and at the same time feel as though we've corrected something in the world. Doesn't feel right.

And yeah, they're pretty ugly. :p

^^TOMS shoes are ugly.

Not sure I'm considering you the authority on fashion. ;)

But ... I hear they're comfortable but I think if you have wide feet or any other real issue then they're crap. Always wanted to try a pair but I have huge feet for a girl.

I wanted Levis, they look really cool and some fit really nice too, I just couldn't find what I wanted in the time I had.

I'm curious how the people that constantly flip phones "make money" off their endeavors, the competition there is utterly insane!

You know what they say about big feet?

Best punchline gets a dollar.

Meh, of course their attraction is completely relative. Also, I know a lot of people who buy them and it seems like the majority don't even know about the 1 for 1 thing. You completely bypassed my saying that they are well built and said that they are poor quality, when you obviously have no personal experience with them.

I have been buyin vans slip ons for years now, it's all I wear simply because I love just slipping on a pair of light shoes. If vans werent my thing I would be buying Toms, regardless of the 1 for 1 thing. So..ya.

I see what you are saying but I think you are generalizing way too much.

Levi Skinny 511

I buy the same jeans. 511's. No where close to $100. Very nice jeans

Agreed. +1

Yeah they are great. So comfortable. Can't believe I've never bought them before.

I haven't bought a new pair of Levi's is quite a few years, used to get a 34 inseam and they'd shrink to a longish 32, which was good for me, are they still shrink to fit on their sizing?

I am not sure about this. It is coming from a white macbook keyboard, so we shall see. Does the white macbook not have backlight?

Nope, no backlight on any of the MacBooks (except the short lived 2.4GHz Aluminum Unibody MacBook) and the MacBook Pros.

Actually, I tried a pair on at GetOutsideShoes here in TO, but only on my girlfriend's suggestion. While walking around I kept feeling like my foot was going to slip in the shoe and I was going to roll my ankle. I do have wide feet though, so that might be the issue. Ended up buying a pair of Keds. Leetttt's not assume things anymore, hmm? I'm not. :)

Love this lens! It's too bad the 50mm AF-S is so much more expensive, or else I'd have both. :p
