How very sensational in a sky is falling sort of way. Don't all headphones magnify the sound of just about every movement in some weird way? I know while on a plane with Apple in-ears I can't eat the free whole grain pita chips they offer on Southwest Airlines because they crunch is lounder than I am comfortable with, and annoying to boot. This guy has this sort of idea that the footsteps, his footsteps, he hears are louder on these because the seal is claimed to be air ight? I'd like to hear from peapody as to whether or not they do, in fact, create an airtight seal as the reviewer you linked us to says.

I agree that the reviewer is slightly overstating the problem. I am not sure that he has fully understood what 'fatal' means either.

The P5s do not create an air tight seal - for a start they are made of leather which, last I checked, is rarely used to air seal anything. And secondly, if they did create an air tight seal, then heaven forfend anyone try to remove them from their ears after putting them on without damaging their ears. The P5s are really no different than any other on the ear earphones.

I have used the P5s for a few weeks and find they are better for walking than my Ultimate Ears in-ear phones where any tap on the wires made a lot of noise.

I would suggest to return them ASAP. Marco (the creator of instapaper) blogged about the fatal flaw of these headphones here http://www.marco.org/2377548060

Haha yeah most do, and in fact, any in ear headphone that creates a seal (shure se series, westone um series, klipschs, ultimate ears customs and triple fis) would do the same thing and probably worse with microphonics coming from the cables. Surprise - these are some of the best headphones you can get. Maybe an open can might be a better solution, but who really wants to blast their music on a train and risk damaging their hearing to just be barely able to listen to their music? When I read "fatal flaw" I thought they would create a spark and eletrocute me or something (like the famous ipod and iphone electrocution tales). :p

Thanks for the heads up though. Interesting read, but very trivial to me and not enough to make me return them ASAP. Really can't wait to get them though haha.

Sold my 40 GB tv for $80 on CL this morning, and I just ordered the new one on Amazon with my $100 Rent.com card. Perfect!

You get a lot of bang for your buck with those headphones though. I've had several pairs.

The most bang for the buck might not lie in having to get several pairs. ;)

At the risk of bagging on a purchase - I'll tread the line and say they aren't really thaat good. You can get better for that price =). but they are cheap and they are closed, so why not?

When he mentioned fatal flaw and airtight seal, I thought he was going to say that removing them too fast can pull your ear off. Sensational blog is sensational.

Shut the FRONT DOOR. How did I miss this? What a haul. My headphone collection is tiny...but DANG, that's quite the collection you've got there. Great find!

For her:

Ladies-Diamond-Rings-18k-White-Gold-4mm-Bezel-Set-Zig-Zag-Diamond-Wedding-Ring-big04606.jpg

For me:

Alternative-Metal-Rings-Cobaltchrome-7mm-High-Polish-Beveled-Wedding-Ring-big04202.jpg

With the engagement ring--

For her: ~$4500

For me: $150

:p

For my own ring I told her just get me the el cheapo alternative metal one; the identical band in platinum (both her rings are platinum) would've been like a grand, f that; I went with the cobalt chrome for mine, dirt cheap and 4x harder than platinum...I don't need/want anything expensive for myself.

Been one expensive month...

Nope! James Allen, Tiffany's crap is way too overpriced for a lousy name engraved onto it. I did look at their site for LOLs though and I did have some LOLs at how half of their wedding rings are blatant Tiffany advertisements with gaudy Tiffany logos on the OUTSIDE of the wedding ring for all to see. Pretty vain and tacky, IMO.

I'll definitely be selling some and giving away some on the marketplace. Already set up what I am giving away and what I am selling, so keep an eye out - I think tomorrow..err..today! I really do NOT need that many headphones/earphones/monitors especially when I have my shures and p5s coming tomorrow!! I will tell you though, trying out all these headphones is awesome! I already have some favorites!

XD I hear ya man, that's why I don't like Tiffany either - that and the name Tiffany annoys me.

I bought this:

And I ate it. Then I goofed off with the toy. :D
