Grats my friend. I got engaged Christmas eve, so I have a while before I go grabbing some wedding bands. But I spend about 2500 on her engage ment. 1/2 karat diamond on 14 white gold. She loves it, so thats all that matters.

Thanks, I got engaged on Christmas...the only reason we are already progressing to the wedding stage is because this is an international marriage, and when I came to Japan I told myself three years, no more; I'm in my third year, and going home in September, and the visa process takes six months so we need to start that by March, which means we need to be married. Normally I'd say a super short engagement and rushed marriage is a bad sign, but we just happen to be slave to the timeline of immigration. Furthermore my job is on renewable one year contracts, so it's either stay til this September, or one whole additional year, no thank you. lol.

Yeah, I do agree that is pretty vulgar (and senseless given Burberry has already made that mistake for people to learn from).

Platinum is hypoallergenic--as the other person said you could look into platinum plating if they can do that, otherwise talk to the jeweler you bought the rings from--they may allow you to trade up and give you the majority of your original purchase price towards the new ones. I understand the original wedding rings are important, but if she can't wear them due to an after-the-fact medical reason, I can't see anything wrong with upgrading to something that she can wear. Kinda sucks to have spent all that cash and she can't wear them.

Unrelated, I had to send her engagement ring back to America last night to be resized, that kinda sucks. I hope it gets there and back safely with no customs hassles (there's ALWAYS a customs hassle). The wedding bands should ship next Monday night, so if all goes well hopefully I can have them a week from now...customs hassles aside. Ugh. I loathe customs here because they never, ever get anything right.
