Yep, I only use it for PDFs and for textbooks that I "found" on the interwebz. I've never read a normal book on my DX, so I don't know how good/awful it looks.

I'm not in school anymore, but I'm still in a field where textbooks do come in handy.

For regular PDFs (5-30 pages), changing pages is quite fast. For larger PDFs (say 500-1000 pages, changing pages can be slooooow.

I'm curious as to your success with the BBB method. I work in a pool store, and I've had customers that say that it's worked for them, but others say it's a complete nightmare.

To be honest, i'm not even sure yet. I just started opening our pool with this method for the first time. We had A LOT of algae and we have it all dead, but i can't really balance anything until the test kit arrives next week. We got the chlorine up to 20 PPM and it's holding around 15 right now. The pool smells perfect, but it's still really cloudy. I talked to some people and they think our CYA level is high but i'm not going to add too much Borax until we can be more accurate.

Also, ordered this last night: (To stay on topic)

New York, Baby!
I'll be starting Ice Hockey in the next couple of weeks, waiting to get the rest of the protective equipment and a custom mouth guard made up (cheaper than any boil and bite I could find).

Picked up my first stick: Bauer Vapor X 2.0

Oooh! I'm in the same boat! I'm starting lessons next wednesday... Have you played before or are you a complete beginner? That's a nice stick, I just got a couple of cheap wooden $15 sticks to start with, one to know a green biscuit about with in the garden or park and one to take for lessons.

I've ordered some cheap filter mount on eBay but I'm on the fence about the filters - I wonder if the quality on the cheap ones is ok or if it is really bad

I mostly bought this for the mount/adapter rings. I plan on purchasing higher quality filters later on at about $100 each from Century, but i don't see any reason to pay nearly $200 for the mount or $50 each per adapter ring. Hopefully these filters are good enough to last me for a little bit, plus i have my B+W threaded filter (polarizer) to work with now as well.

You must be from PA :)

Actually I'm not. Not even from the US, but the sentiment of the shirt remains the same and of course very few (except ex 'Burghers) know what a Jagoff is over here :)

As far as hockey goes a complete beginner, I have only been skating for the last four months and finally at a level where I am happy to try and do something else while skating :) The stick is nice, we really have a limited range of cheaper sticks here locally, it was either this or a inline wooden stick that still cost 2/3 of this price... A bit of extra tape on the bottom of the blade will help with protection for off ice training.

Some more equipment arrived yesterday

You bought your DSLR, what, a month ago? Have you figured out how to use it on Manual mode yet, or are you just stocking up on accessories?:p:D;)

My latest worthwhile purchase:

I'd of loved to wait for the iPhone 5 but seeing how as my iPhone 4 decided to go snorkeling with me at the beach getting the 4s immediately afterward was kind of important.

Definitely. I immediately skipped everything but Aperture/Shutter priority. Got pretty good with those and moved on to manual. I figured i can do one of two things. 1) Read and watch a million videos, or 2) Start shooting, playing with settings, etc until i learn everything. I'm more of a hands on person, so i started that way. I still read a lot and watch a lot of videos for the things i don't understand yet (which is a lot), but i find that i learn better by DOING. As long as i leave ISO on auto i do pretty well. Shoot and learn. I do that a lot. :)
