Essentially, the film offers a gripping melodramatic account of the steps taken by the President when he is advised of a secret suspicion that the top Air Force general, who is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is heading a plot to take over the Government on a certain Sunday in May. This general, a highly popular hero, is moved to this traitorous enterprise because he fears the consequences of a nuclear disarmament treaty with the Russians that the President has negotiated.
Leads on this mammoth maneuver are swiftly and smartly pursued in the best spy-fiction tradition, amazing discoveries are made and a climactic confrontation between the President and his adversary is reached. But the interesting thing is that the import of the drama here takes a marked turn into a delicate, critical area of political philosophy.
In some vivid and trenchant dialogue, which Rod Serling has composed in doing the screenplay from the novel, the President sadly notes the cause of such a move toward upheaval is not one man's lust for power but the consequence of a concentration of fear and anxiety. The enemy is not the general, he says, it is the nuclear age. "It happens to have killed man's faith in his ability to influence what happens to him," he says.
In his commentary, Frankenheimer points out elements in Seven Days' production design that were intended to situate the story in a future time, including making all of the cars foreign imports that didn't resemble what was then typical on American roads and the recurrent use of video-conferencing, a prescient notion that didn't yet exist. Today, none of these devices have the same effect, but perhaps what most "dates" Seven Days is its ability to unsettle the viewer without recourse to gunfire, explosions or violence. (What bloodshed does occurs happens offscreen.) For all of the military might hovering around the edges of the story, Frankenheimer achieves his impact through traditional dramatic means, in tense consultations and arguments where the actors' conviction conveys the enormity of the stakes. Highly recommended.
I just bought a copy of Little Snitch 4......its fantastic, especially new "map" feature in network monitor.

Interesting change to the smaller phone. I've had the 6+ for about 2.5 years and every time I go to the smaller model I feel like a giant. It was really weird using the 5s for a few days when I had it active with a smaller carrier to maintain connectivity in case of emergency.I sold my 7+ and got me the 7. I like the smaller phone better. It feels more comfortable in my hands and pocket.

My wife had an iPhone 6 from launch and hated it's size every day of her 2 year contract. She got the SE last year and hopes Apple continue making smaller iPhones. I must admit I'd never go bigger than a 4.7" footprint iPhone. I've got an iPad if I want a big touchscreen.Interesting change to the smaller phone. I really like the better cameras and bigger batteries in the larger models, but I understand where you're coming from. I think my wife really liked the move from the 5 to the 6 but she is a one fingered texter on the phone regardless so it's no big deal to her.My wife had an iPhone 6 from launch and hated it's size every day of her 2 year contract. Aye, it's awesome.
One problem I have running a BS-mod nVidia 980ti is that the drivers are not signed by AAPL, and said Network Monitor displays nothing but the window outline/shadow.
What grfx card are you using on your 2009 cMP, bax2003?
I sold 2009 cMP, but it had Apple Radeon HD5770.
