Remembering a time when I had knees that did't hurt all the time. As well play a little Avengers...

Apparently this arrived just recently and I have it inserted in my LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt enclosure.. The drive has its issues with multiple write and read locations in comparison to my WD Blue SSD - But otherwise there's nothing to put on the day to day operations as soon as all data is copied over. The feeling of having left the internal drive to its own devices is awesome as it has a similar amount of drive capacity as the internal 7200 RPM hard disk.

I picked up the the Bose NC700s to compare against the Sony WH-1000XM4s right now and first impressions so far:

  • call quality is definitely leagues ahead of the XM4s. They are as good as the AirPods Pro. Call quality on the XM4s are trash and crackle. Wtf this ain’t 2005
  • sound quality overall on the NC700 is clearer. Bass is weak. The XM4s are noticeably louder and have more depth but sometimes muddied the sound with the overwhelming bass but at least there’s an equalizer to work with.
  • At first NC700 isn’t as comfortable as I thought it would be against the XM4. Earcups are better but that headband clamps harder than the XM4. after using it for an hour and a half I noticed no ear pain as I did with the Sony. XM4 hurts my ears after 30 minutes 🙉
  • ANC slightly better in the NC700 but the difference isn’t significant. They are both very good.
  • looks like Bose is taking their sweet ass time with the equalizer. Wtf is going on and how could they not have such a simple thing included on their app at the beginning for headphones at this price.
  • Did the workaround to install 1.5.1 and have the equalizer. Definitely improved by increasing bass but still doesn’t match the XM4s but it’s gotten a little closer. Bose needs to get on it to officially release a better version of this firmware. It’s been working great so far.
Going to try these out for a week. Might just return both and see what Apple will announce or release later this month.

I have the Bose QC35’s and have been happy with them for the last few years.

Changing internet provider next week to 1,000/1,000 mbs, so I'm upgrading the router to Ubiquiti Unifi Dream Machine Pro, it will probably take me a few months to set it up ....

Man I was super tempted to do that myself, but after a month of thinking about it I just bit the bullet and went with a regular Dream Machine. I didn't really care for Ubiquiti's camera offering, and it doesn't seem like there's much point to go with the UDMP otherwise. The UDM has been terrific! And setting up the network took me like 30 minutes. I love how much I can tweak stuff without interrupting anyone! Adding VLANs and firewall rules and more APs is... so easy lol.

Picture of the two bigger items I bought

MSI WS66 for my daily workstation
WX9100 for my Mac Pro

8 x 10TB drives for my server
8 x 32GB kit for the Mac Pro
Couple of TB3 docks
USB Hub for home office

Fellow Stagg Electric Gooseneck Kettle

Our old kettle was on the blink, so I thought I'd throw in a Chemex as well since I've been wanting to try it for ages.
That's a damn nice kettle, I did nearly spit out my coffee when I saw the price though!!

This is incoming .. woop woop :D a mere ~ $99 or 668dkr. I wanted the capacity ..
I can live with / have to live with the specs being somewhat lower than its Samsung, Crucial and WD Blue sisters.

I have four of those drives in various machines as well as two high end Crucial SSDs and honestly unless you constantly transfer huge files to and from it you will not notice any real world difference. That's super cheap for 1TB, enjoy.

Thanks! It really was cheap. Kingston did this, apparently, throughout many online stores here and around where I live (Denmark) - same via the online store Komplett in Sweden and Norway. Must have been a bigger push from them as I bought it around the same price as with other online stores pushing the exact same model and capacity.

Yup, the drive performs well after a few days of using it. Boots to the desktop faster than I felt my WD Blue SSD did. It has choked a little on various heavy copying operations but eventually settling in and now I find it operates just fine. :)

Found a copy of this little gem on Amazon. It’s a 1933 edition, and goes into great detail about different types of flour, and how to use them properly. And, of course, how to bake a cake.

I looked through a copy at the restaurant my SO and I visit every Friday night, and found it quite interesting.

I really try to avoid cakes, as they make my pants shrink. But for that once-in-awhile special treat, the next one I bake will likely be a serious step up from my previous efforts.

I’m a huge sucker for candles.

And not really a purchase but more like repurchase... somehow my airpod pro case disappeared into thin air so 😭😭😭 I had to buy another one. Couldn’t buy retail so I had to chat with a rep, less than ten minutes and boom. It’s done.

the piece arrived two days later. Apple support sucks sometimes but I find chat and replacement is 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.

Coincidentally, my dry cleaner does the same thing to my pants

Before you laugh, I re-inherited an old 2015 12” Macbook from my kid after the battery needed replacement, and then Apple discovered liquid damage. The kid now has a new 2020 MB Air.

The 12” laptop was too expensive to fix. So using it on its last legs, I put together a gaming table, 27” monitor USB-C Dell LED Monitor, monitor light, Logitech MX Mac keyboard, and Mac MX Master 3. Found an old AudioQuest DragonFly Red USB-DAC.

Happily the one USB-C port of the laptop feeds the rest, and charges the laptop.

Why did I bother? I’m waiting for ARM CPU Mac laptop/Mac-Mini. Pandemic boredom at its best ;)
