Two things, I suppose. First, the HughesNet installer is coming Monday morning. Labor Day, right? And satellite internet? ewwww. But we're in the sticks, so Comcast isn't an option. And the Verizon mifi we're currently using is less than satisfactory. We'll see how it goes.

Since HugesNet doesn't provide a router, I looked on eBay and found one of these (AirPort Extreme, latest edition):

It should arrive Tuesday.

Edit: Ok, there's a third thing. An install DVD of OS X Yosemite, which is the last supported OS for my Mac-only Fujitsu document scanner. My plan is to run Yosemite in a virtual machine on Parallels, which I already own, so that I don't have to spring for a new scanner. $15 vs $400+. Not a bad deal. My main OS on my mid-2010 27" iMac is High Sierra. Runs like a champ!

Congratulations, but crap! I have one I used for a couple weeks, I would have given it to you.

Hmmm. I don’t know the edition. I’ve had it a year maybe(?)

Ive been using 2013 MacBooks for my portable and editing needs. I have now sold both and picked up a 2018 13" MBP for my portable needs, and am waiting for the iMAC refresh to pick up a max spec for editing use:

Also decided to go for it with the TB3 ports now available, with new drives to accompany my workflow!

OWC ThunderBlade V4 for editing:

OWC Envoy Pro EX - used for general file storage/backup, and as a general portable drive for moving data around....

Samsung T5 - I like to keep a SuperDuper clone/image of my systems also. Hence picked up a 500GB T5 for use with my MacBook and a 1TB version for backing up my forthcoming iMAC:

Already have a QNAP NAS as my central storage and data backups too. Also used by the household to store all their data.
Decided to order a 10GBe switch and put the NAS's 10GBe ports to use!

And of course some Cat 6a cables:

Tempted to go for an iMAC Pro which has a 10GBe port, but waiting to see what the refreshed iMAC will bring. If I opt for the latter I have the following in my basket ready for purchase!
A Sonnett TB3 to 10GBe adapter:

Thats it for now!!

Ah well. Thanks for the thought.

But it was fun bidding for this thing. There were seven of us. In the end I had to pull over on my drive home to increase my bid during the last 3 minutes of the auction. And still wound up with a decent price, from what I can tell.

Ahhhh, the thrill of the hunt!

I decided to get a little more serious about my photography, so I upgrade my cameras system to a Sony A7R III. I was using an old Nikon D80 camera (it still works), but decided to go FF Mirrorless. I am so far impressed with this camera and I really like the AF and the EVF on the camera. This camera hopefully will last me a long time and I hope to be productive professionally with this camera.
