Finally, ordered a Tamron for my Sony (also picked up a UV filter as part of the package):

Also ordered an 8TB Seagate drive. Since I got the Mac Mini, I have really wanted to finally organize my Lightroom photos and come up with a better workflow so I don't have photos all over the place.

I always wear a seatbelt when I’m driving. But when you just want to move your car a few ft to wash it or whatever, it’s a pain.

Friend is an IT guy. Think he tried 3 other systems and returned them all before settling on this one. Can’t speak about the technicals, but it’s fast as heck and coverage is superb. I’m coming from regular Apple set up with 2 extremes and 1 express.

I'm strongly leaning toward a mesh setup. What made you choose the eero, if I may ask?

Went with Google Wifi myself and it is beyond fantastic. I had a couple dead spots and also outdoor cameras I needed wifi for that my normal setup was not meeting the needs for. Added 3 google wifi and the house is completely covered, the cameras never lag or delay, and our internet is blazing fast. All while being a cord cutter and streaming.

Cant recommended google wifi enough or a mesh system.

One of my best and oldest friends is also a google wifi fan. It's also oddly enough what my uncle picked up when he wanted coverage extended into his garage. My struggle is there are so many recommendations for each system I just can't decide.

FWIW, google wifi was one of the systems my friend tried and returned. he said it was somewhat unreliable for him. glad to hear that cnasty is having a better experience.

I picked one of these up this fall too, coming from a single base station it's been fantastic. Our place has a seemingly normal layout but having multiple access points has really improved our experience. We used to never get a solid connection in the bedroom with out router in the living room. Now it's rock solid. Add on to that the app and it's awesome. Being able to add guest access, monitor the network, etc. It's unbeatable.

what were you using before and what body are you using? Link the HD you got? I need an external soon as well.

It is interesting, I broke an insured Canon 17-40mm and I used the money to buy this lens while it was available. I still need a wide angle lens, so I am going to sell my Canon 24-105mm to help raise funds when I get a chance. The body is a Sony A7RIII and I use a metabones adapter for my Canon lenses (I also have a 5D Mark III - may eventually sell it, too). This Tamron is my first lens that doesn't need an adapter, but I will eventually buy the Sony 16-35 f4. I did notice out of the box (which came yesterday) that the Tamron takes a second longer to start up and I think it may be because it is communicating with the body, but I have to research this.

It was on sale for 124.99 when I bought it. My plan is to use it for archived photos (and a Mac Mini Backup) that I have all over the place (multiple drives on my network) and get it all organized in Lightroom. I will keep the stuff I am currently reviewing/editing on a WD Black NVME inside an enclosure. I am so busy right now, it may be the new year before everything is organized, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I have had it since January and I love it, though I haven't had as much time to use it as I hoped. It is definitely nice to have the huge files with dynamic range that gives you tons of latitude without relying on HDR. I planned to do more video for my blog this last year, but never really had time for it. Definitely, something I want to pursue in 2019 and the camera makes that easier.

My choice of the Tamron over the Sony 24-105 was about f2.8, the price, and the size. It just checked every box for me.
