unfortunately, still have a 13 year old at home. the gaming systems are for her.

and some may say that I'm surly. just depends on how much of an ass you are. :D
I should use that excuse if I pick up the next-gen PS5 or XBox. My kids are a lot younger than yours, though.

How does that work? It just shares stuff from a given directory using the iTunes protocol? I wonder how compatible it is?
I know it's been a month since you posted this, but I've actually tested the iTunes server since then :)

Unfortunately, compatibility isn't great. It works with iTunes on the desktop, but my phone simply wouldn't see the share at all. I still have a Windows machine in the basement that stays on 24/7 (it's my Web server) so I'm now running iTunes on there, pointing to the NAS for its library. It was a little clunky to set up, but it's been running for a few weeks now and has been completely reliable.

Yeah, that's what I was expecting/afraid of. I'm guessing it's supporting some version of the original DAAP protocol, rather than the newer iTunes Home Sharing protocol (which e.g. iOS/Apple TV's use, to the exclusion of the original "Add Computer" support for DAAP).

Sounds like I'll stick with my plan for a new multi-bay drive case + iTunes/Catalina sharing (after ~September).

Thanks for updating though, definitely good to have confirmation!

So this isn’t so much of a one time purchase, but more of a collection of purchases to complete a project I’ve been working on. Finally finished it today. Hopefully some of the EDC guys can appreciate it.

A light stand + 2x battery powered LED work/emergency lights (trying a new brand, much bigger battery, should last much longer than the 3 we already have)

I'm a bit of a fan of hardbound journals, to sketch in. Gamestop of course was doing their competing sales vs. Prime day. In those sales were some of the more odd things you may not find in your local store, including journals for $5. I couldn't pass up a classic Playstation journal when I saw it listed.

Pool furniture finally arrived.

Fighting the urge to put a pool in our new house. I just feel the prices are all over the place here in my area and then size and if it would fit. But man we would use that thing every single day in the appropriate months.

We don’t use it a ton, but it’s nice to have in the summer months when we entertain our daughter and her friends. And yes, the cost varies so much depending on design and materials. If you have an idea or any drawn plans, I can contact my buddy who builds pools for a living. He could tell you what would be a fair ballpark price.

What area are you in if you dont mind sharing or you can PM me? I think it also has to do with the area and price including the bells and whistles of course. We have a good enough sized yard so nothing too fancy but would love the look out there and enjoying it on football saturdays.
