I recently found a small steelworks who were prepared to make me a couple of metal obelisks for my garden, made to my design. I provided them with a drawing and sizes and I've just been to pick them up. Should look nice next summer when my border is alive with plants again, and I have a clematis that I intend to plant up one of them..

Not my exact last purchase, but it was my last "major" purchase.

Nothing was wrong with my old TV (TCLR635), but the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports (limiting my consoles to 1440p/120) was getting kind of annoying. I had $500 in Store Credit/Gift Cards to Best Buy, so I decided to upgrade from our mini-LED TV to a full blown OLED, the LG B2.

I was really nervous about potential burn-in on the TV, but after extensive research I've come to the conclusion that OLED burn in on these 2020 and beyond panels is almost non-existent, and by the time burn-in is an issue it will be new TV time anyways.

The TV is offset on the console because of how our living room is configured. Couch is on the opposite wall but that wall also has the door to exit the apartment. We can't center the TV stand because of living room closet door, either. Don't worry, it looks odd in pictures but when you're actually using the TV you don't notice it at all.

White cable is an OTA antenna, because I'm not paying $50+ just for local news channels, haha. Xbox sits on top because in the cubby it gets way too hot and loud. Surprisingly, the Playstation is never more than slightly warm to the touch, even hours after playing games with raytracing. I did try using 2 HomePod minis as the TV speakers, but I was really unimpressed. Also, WebOS is terrible. It lagged so hard and I hate LG's remote. Thank god for Apple TV 4K (hidden behind the TV).

For a man, I can think of no better purchase than a new TV. It's on a par with getting a new car.

When someone buys. a new watch folk say to them 'Wear in good health', when someone gets a new TV we ought to say 'Watch in good health' :)

Found a Nanoleaf Smarter Kit at Costco for fifty bones. I've been looking at Nanoleaf for years but never pulled the trigger because of the price. But this is so addicting. I was looking at the bundles on their website after Christmas and they had some good deals, but the sale ended after I decided to go for it. So I'll wait until they have a sale again.

I use a Pi4 for my DAKboard and love it. Curious what you are using it for :)
We have several of the Pi4 versions at church for displays of upcoming events and general promotional stuff, and a calendar display in the office conference room... after playing with those a bit, I picked up a Pi3 for home... still experimenting with a family calendar, weather forecas, and a "smart frame" for family photos... I currently have it connected to the family room TV, but have a 32" monitor that I am planning to mount on a wall in the kitchen/dining area...

How are you using yours?
