12" iBook G4 - 1.33GHz, 1GB RAM, 40GB HD, 10.5.2

Love it!

I just put it on my desk for the picture. This iBook will be used as it was intended, on the go.

Here's the pic:

I just bought a Gateway FHD2400 24" glossy display to go with my MB and it is sweet!

I was looking into getting either that display or one of Dell's offerings. How do you like it so far?
I like it quite well. I had a Dell 2005fpw, and wanted something with the input choices that had, but in a larger screen. I recently got a 24" iMac at work and fell in love with it, so that got me looking for glossy displays, and this was just the ticket. Be aware, though, it is VERY bright (use shades or something similar to dim it down). And it is a TN panel, but that doesn't bother me at all in my setup at home.

You can afford a bike like that from serving coffee?! Maybe I should go drop my CV off at the local branch!

Yeah... the frame was priced at $895, but I got the bike for $290. It's crazy what you can find on Ebay, you know. So yeah, I actually could afford it.

Hmmmn, I am not sure about getting this display. I really don't want a glossy display because lots of light shine on my desk. Do you see any noticeable glare on your screen?

that was a great deal

makes me jealous

Yeah, it's awesome. I was never that big into using a laptop, but I bought an EEE PC (impulse buy) a few weeks ago and realized that I really liked having a laptop to carry all over the house and take down the road, if need be. The EEE PC was much too limited, though, so I decided to get this iBook. .Mac syncing is great. I have it syncing my mail accounts, Safari bookmarks, etc., so it's awesome. I'd never used .mac syncing with any of my other laptops and I believe this is one of the reasons I never used 'em that much. I hope to keep this iBook a long time.

Yes, a glossy display isn't for everybody. I have the glossy iMac at work but work in a darkened office so it is usually not a big issue; sometimes I can see lights from the hall reflected in the display, but not bad. At home I have windows behind me with room darkening shades, so again the glare is not bad. I find that if the display is on and you are looking straight at it, you don't really notice many reflections; it is mainly when moving your head that you will notice the reflections. For me the brighter, more vivid colors and generally crisper display are worth it though. I don't think I will ever go back to a matte screen.

I do lots of design work, so I am worried about color inaccuracies as well. Glossy screens make colors look more vivi than they really are, which is bad for designers.

Then the Dell may be the one for you. I would wait for reviews of the new 2408 though, since it is so new.

A new apartment. :D

It is in a new development currently under construction east of San Jose, on the top floor of one of the apartment buildings. It has a beautiful view of the mountains. I am still working with the developers on the contract. There's no need to worry, though, since they won't be ready until November.

To tell the truth, I am a bit frightened at the idea of owning a place (AND the mortgage that comes with it ). But I am also happy that after several months of searching, I found something that I really liked (and could afford). :D

I absolutely hate you. :p

I want a PS3 so badly. :(

Aww, I'm sure you'll get one! If it's any consolation, there is talk they will get a revision this spring with hard drives starting at 160gigs. When you get yours you can post photos and tell me how I should have waited. ;)
