Hmm interesting! I'm going to try the new cable today, it was a bit more expensive and is DP 1.4 (32.4gbps) vs my current cable DP 1.2 (21.6gbps)

Do you happen know what the moshi usb-c to display port is capable of? Or could you link me to the one you're using?

edit: my monitor only has DP 1.2, is it even possible for DP cord 1.4 to produce better results in this case?

I don't know which cable you are using. This is the one I bought...

You don't necessarily need that length. I did.

I wanted a single cable solution to my monitor. So, single TB3 cable (above) to a Caldigit dock and from the Caldigit dock a regular Display Cable connection to the monitor.

Now, if Moshi has some sort of USB-C TB3 to Display Port with those TB3 specs (4k 60Hz, 40Gbps) it might be okay.

I am learning this stuff just like you. I was told to drive a huge display with a single cable connection I would need that Thunderbolt 3 cable with those specs.

Now whether that solves your problem is anyone's guess. I am still waiting for my Mini (end of Dec.) to try it with my 42" display to see if that works.

Still a work in progress, but my M1 MM arrived this week and I installed a mount underneath my desk to keep down on clutter up top. Mounted a small hub toward the back of the desk for easy access to ports.

Will post the rest of the setup once another few items come in. So far I'm impressed with the machine. It more or less feels the same as my high end 2016 15" MBP which is all I was looking for. First time I've ever owned a desktop computer vs a laptop so that's probably the strangest feeling of it all

Question on those mounts...

Can they adhere with adhesive instead of screws? I can't screw into the bottom of my desk. I know adhesive is not as strong but...

You could look for a clamp mount. This got me to looking for a desk powerstrip mount that I bought a while ago but never added. It clamps to the side of the desk and I have power outlets on my desk now instead of on the floor.

What about Scotch Mount double-sided tape? Like below....

I'm using gorilla glue as my desk is metal so I couldn't screw into it. Did the same for the cord organizer next to the MM mount. It's permanent, but I don't see myself removing any of these items anytime soon

New 2018 refurb MacMini 16GB, 1TB SSD (1 week old).. yes, skipping the Gen1 M1 chip. Replaces a 2012 8GB/1TB SSD MacMini. Same but faster with better ports. Love the Space Grey. Currently using a Dell UltraSharp 1440P and looking to upgrade to a 4K Dell UltraSharp or 34" Curved Wide..

My work PC is vertically docked behind the monitor when I need to use it

Mac Mini and all cables are mounted underneath the desk. Really happy with how this turned out as they're not at all visible

Here is the cable rack which holds a power strip w/ USB outlets. Plenty of space on the left hand side of the rack for holding hard drives or other misc stuff. I also have a small hub velcro'd to the back of the desk for easy SD or USB access

Thank you. During quarantine I've learned to 'reset the room' each day which helps reduce clutter. The only thing not shown in this pic would be my work iphone and a moleskin notebook/pen, but those get put away each day to 'reset' my work space.

Just snagged a 2018 i7 Mini with 64GB of ram to replace my space heater 12 core 5,1.
Pretty happy with it so far, all the space saved let me bring back my Switch and Mega SG (FPGA Sega Genesis) onto my desk instead of hooking them up when I wanted to play.

If anyone is wondering, I'm using a gutted 2010 Mini with a centrifugal fan as a cooling system. All ports minus the ethernet are filled and there are hubs and docks everywhere lol.

if you are audio then consider the shareware LoopBack to easily Route audio through your Mac on Mic!

Hah, I'm actually not done yet. I need to hookup my photo scanner, film scanner, and get a PCIe card adapter for my BlackMagic Intensity so I can continue converting VHSes through my S-VHS deck.
