i was gonna get those speakers, but then i didn't know where to put all the rest since it comes with like 5.

i want to put them in the top corners of my room, but didn't want the speaker wires running up the wall and showing.

Luckily with the way my room is set up I cant see the wires at all :D, But I haven't figured out how to get 5.1 surround from my MBP, so they kinda just sit at the back doing nothing.

wow this is nice, what would be nice if there was a mouse and keyboard that would pair with the 3 computers and you can switch from one to another using a short cut.

Thats is very much an amazing setup,

what do you do with all the screen space?

What you see there is a '08 3.2Ghz MP connected to three thirty inch displays. To the right of the picture there's a headless '08 2.8 MP used only for crunching via Adobe's version of Xgrid. For added data security and surge protection, there's huge UPS with ampoule of energy, allowing everything to stay online for a further 3h 35m, should there be a blackout (dells are disconnected, they draw too much current)

Just under the left display, is a disconnected PowerMacG5, it's rendered useless because it's tooo damn slow and adding it on the network slows everything down!

Sadly 99% of the time, my workstation is just doing dull, boring, mundane work!! But since I'm a freelancer working from home, it doubles as a entertainment centre... unfortunately, most of the time the system is too busy.

Left Panel (3008WFP):
PP playback, additional applications, pt mixer & score, proofs & browser

Centre Panel (ACD30):
main application screen, editing canvas, time-line, pro-tools

Right Panel (3008WFP):
application panels, plug-ins, finder, emails, documents
(also used for WII & PS3)

wow this is nice, what would be nice if there was a mouse and keyboard that would pair with the 3 computers and you can switch from one to another using a short cut.

What uses is a KVM switch?
There's only one MacPro connected to all three panels. Thus, one keyboard and mouse. :p

how do you like that monitor? im looking to set up an external monitor like you have and im torn between the P2210 and the 2209WA.

It is a very nice monitor. I had quite a hard time calibrating the display to sync the colors with my MacBook Pro colors. It is super bright and quite sharp.

This pic was taken back in February, but it hasn't changed much since then.

This is my 20" Imac in my kitchen. I do all my homeschooling on this, hence the Abeka textbook and DVD's.

Here are my random "accessories", including my 8GB Ipod Nano 3G, 100GB external HDD, Apple Remote, etc.

Now, I have my Apple remote on a velcro slot up front :p

I've had my Mac about a week so I thought I'd show you all how I was getting along with him (her? I can't decide).

Hey, How are you liking that viewsonic monitor. I'm looking to buy one, the VX2260WM. Just wondered if it really is that good, as you can get it for around £130 now!

Please tell me, why do you need 3 x 30"? I mean, it must be annoying needing to move from left to right just to see the left or the right monitor. Or can you sit in the center of your desk and work on all the monitors from that position?
Why isn't 2 enough? How many softwares do you need to work with at once?
How many computers do you work with at the same time?

Ah, this set-up is fairly new.

Previously I used to squint while trying to read the settings on various application palettes on two 22" Mitsubishi diamond pro displays set to a similar resolution (2048 by 1536)and being bulky CRT's they're pretty much impossible to move about. Often after a day's work I'll be suffering from migraines, sore eyes and fatigue leading to time off work and expensive specialist counselling. Upgrading to lightweight TFT's give me the flexibility to run different resolutions on the two side panels, thus no squinting.

Nowadays, I just sit left of the middle panel, giving me a perfect view of all three panels without any eye strain. If need be, I'm able to finely adjust each of the displays to suit my position altering it's angle and height as required. I'm even able to rotate them a full 360° for portrait viewing. Each panel is mounted on it's own counterbalanced articulated arm giving them freedom to moved with very light touches... And being wall mounted, they're supposed to keeps the desk free from too much clutter! (though that's not always the case).

Usually there's two to four application open plus a browser, whether they're active is another thing. At any given moment both MacPro's are always on, in fact they're on pretty much 24/7. Yes, it's seems wasteful but they can't render when they're shut-down! One of the MBP's are usually on, downloading mail, or it's asleep.

I'm just curious, what line of work are you in?

I'm work in digital media.

Fitting eight drives in a MP isn't hard. You can buy custom made blocks from MaxUpgrades, to solve that problem and if your willing to give up the DVD drive (or get creative), you can install 12 (twelve) physical harddrives inside a MacPro.

skitched-20091103-010527.jpg

Nobody said they have to be 3.5" :D

I'd still like to see the inside of the actual MP you're talking about.
