My setup just got the 30" today, found out cant get 1920 x 1200 unless i have the 99$ adapter..... Drrr, pisses me off but sweet monitor. So everything is huge :(

Unless the mac has dual link support (Pros for sure and 9400M Macbooks) No 1920x1200 for you buddy... Sorry :(

Ergotron Desk mounts, losing the base really clears out a ton of space on my desk. It sure would be nice if they made these displays with a mini-display cord that was a bit longer, the extension cables have had some quality issues.
How do you like them? Any backlight issues or yellowing? I'd consider one of these in the future for my mbp.

Shame, it makes the 30" look like a 20" with the huge dock.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a last-gen MacBook driving the display? If so, it doesn't have dual-link DVI, meaning you can't get your 30" up to its optimal 2560x1600 res, no matter how much you spend on adapters.

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M: is what i have, i read somewhere that 1920 x 1200 is only supported if i have the dual link mini divi adapter. Is this true?

Edit: Well I know that my macbook cant support the maximum res of the monitor, but I was told by apple support that macbook supports 1920 x 1200 (max). But to support 1920 x 1200 you have to have that special adapter. With the regular min dvi to dvi it supports maximum of 1280 x 800 which looks like absolute crap.

Edit 2: Yes, this macbook is from mid 2009.

I want that printer...the Pro9000 or maybe the Pro9500 since I hear its better at black and white prints? Do you ever print in black and white, if so, how do they turn out? Does it eat ink like crazy?

I love them, have another one at home as well. No issue with backlight or yellowing. The glare can be a bit much at times given the glossy screen but the sun shines directly into my office window in the morning and I prefer the glare than to closing the blinds.

What is that to the upper left of the keyboard?

It the controller for my Sonos music system..

If you've got the 9400M, I'm pretty certain you can run 2560x1600.

The hub of stupidity
We will find out when I get the part, hopefully on friday lol. I'll post here when I find out :)

That GPU can drive the monitor alright, it's just a matter of how well. Don't expect any fanciness when it comes to graphical elements, that die will be under a lot of stress when cranking out that many pixels. I have the desktop standard Mac Pro card (which is crap anyway, but well ahead of the 9400M), and it struggles with UI elements/smooth effect rendering on a single 30" panel. I wouldn't even try hooking up the second

I had a late 2009 MBP and MB. Both 13inch models and both with the 9400.
I have a 23" Acer monitor and they pushed the 1080p just fine into it.
Don't know about anything higher than that though. I'm with Techie though,
it would tax your GPU pretty good rendering on the fly with higher
resolutions.

My office set up, driven by 2009 MP (under the desk). Sorry for poor image quality, taken with iPhone

I really like this setup. I love my single ACD, too. :D I find the 30" display nice, but too large for me to comfortably use; I think two ACD's would be perfect. :)

Well I have the single Mini-DVI to DVI adapter right now (because that is all I thought I needed) and it only allows 1280 x 800. I read in a couple different places that I need the dual Mini-DVI to DVI adapter to achieve 1920 x 1200 res. I need it lol, this 1280 x 800 looks absolutely terrible. I think I will be upgrading to a mac mini, probably when they get a refresh in a couple of months. I know they support the max res of the monitor with the dual link mini to dvi.

I've actually never printed in black & white.

It does a terrific job of printing color images though, and ink life varies on what you print.

supposedly it gets 100 4"x6" photos, but obviously it's based on color use.

I find it goes through the photo cyan & magenta fairly quickly, but I've printed a lot of pictures with reds & blues in them, be it from a beach or sunsets etc. Since owning it (bought in 2007), I've gone through 3 of each ink cartridge (there's 8 total), and a package of all 8 will run you $100.

Standard DVI can do 1920x1200 with no problem. You only need Dual Link if you want 2560x1600 and up.

Also, Andy, the regular mini-dvi to dvi adapter will work up to 1920x1200. The Apple rep is just trying to get you to buy the stupid dual link one, which is overpriced from Apple. I asked them the same thing when I bought my first mac and was considering a macbook, and they flat out lied to me saying it will only support 1280x800 on the mini-dvi. Thats a crock, check the forums here, on some of the older "Post Your Mac" threads, there are macbooks driving 24" screens.. I have a 1440x900 running on Mini-DP to DVI (standard, not dual link, and from monoprice) and it has no problems.

EDIT: Also, if you get an adapter, get it from Monoprice. It's way cheaper and imo, better bang for the buck. I havent had any problems with my stuff from them. Quick shipping and cheap.

Monoproce is nice.
Brother wanted to hook his MBP up to his 50" Samsung Plasma so I
told him to go there to buy the dongle. ^_^
30$ at Apple and less than half that from Monoprice.

Exactly. I got my Mini-DP to DVI dongle from Monoprice for $10.27 shipped. Apple would have been $50+ thanks to tax and S&H.

hahah Yah i almost was one of the noobs that bought one. =) Somewhere
in my head I heard a voice telling me to check the forums.. and I was
glad I did. Saved me 40 buckaroos.
