Not done yet, but this is what I have gotten done so far:

IMG_0009-1.jpg

I just finished running the Migration Assistant since the 27 incher is new, but I cant access any of my folders from my old iMac. Anyone have any ideas why? I have all my music, pictures, and files on the external hard drive, but it doesnt give me permission to open the folders.

can I ask you how your wall mount fits on the imac? I could not see a way for the arm of come off of them when I looked at them in the store.

There is a Vesa adapter that is made for the iMac. This is it. Its quite simple actually. You lay the iMac face down, and tilt base as far down as it goes. Then you take this plastic card (size of a credit card), and slide it in where the base connects to the iMac, at an upward angle, and the piece that connects the base comes out and reveals the 8 screws that need to be removed. Once you get that done, the Vesa mount attaches quite easily, then you add it to any wall mount that is compatible with the Vesa mount, which are pretty much any wall mount available.

The tricky part is getting the wall mount on the wall straight lol. I put up my 42" tv with a friend of mine, and had to fix it a little because it was at a slight angle, which was hardly noticeable, except to me. I measured, and measured again, and again, until I was ready to do it. I did it myself, and was quite pleased when I checked the iMac afterward and it was perfectly leveled.

Next step is to upgrade the desk, or at least a new base for the glass.

Here's my current setup,I moved my MB over because I like it in front of me,and I like having an external the right of it,I have my keyboard and mouse for my MB on top,and my keyboard and mouse for the G4 in the little keyboard tray as I use them less,I need a more open air compartment for my G4 because it does get hot in the little cubby.

If you really want in there are a few things you can do:
1. Try a slightly larger bit/screw driver and apply pressure to avoid slippage while you turn it
2. If that doesn't work, I would pull out my drill and slap on a bit that is approximately the size of the thread portion and drill it out

I have a very small, portable, cost&energy efficient and workable setup.
This is the only bag i own, the only computer i own. And i allways carry it arround withme, between home, university or someone elses's house. Its been like this for almost 2 years.

The next upgrades will be:

-bluetooh mouse(still not convinced about that MM)
-500Gb hard-drive
-4Gb memory
-An Iphone to replace my BBerry.

And thats it!

It seems like your setup changes every week or so :p

I dunno, I just find it to be too much work to change my setup all the time. Too many wires, plus there's only a couple places my 28" monitor will fit on my desk  I can't even move the desk because it's so huge it'll only fit in one place in the room

The only problem with both of those is that the screw is tightly in and completely and utterly stripped. Unless anyone has a screwdriver/bit thats shaped like a circle thatll do it (Looks like some idiots been at it with a just slightly to small screwdriver)

I do something similar. I only have a MBP which I take to work and back home, and whenever I travel. Only things that stay at work/home are my mouse and external drives. It's a very clean and simple setup :)

well,my mouse its very small so i carry it around all the time. I only have a 4 year old 320Gb Lacie external drive that i almost never use.
The biggest issue with this setup its that i currently have nothing backed up..
I'm thinking about subscribing a service like carbonite or something...

Found a 2008 octad at the right price, which left me with enough for these babies :D Now All I need is the Mac Pro to drive them, hopefully that many lumens doesn't sear the skin

Sorry for the crappy pic, DSLR is gone and the only camera in a 500 ft radius is the MacBook Pro iSight.

The power...The Power!!! Mwuahahaha!
