Kinda kinky right.

Just thought I would commemorate surpasing 1000 posts and the 6502a rating with this shot.. first picture of my new core i5 HR AG 2.53ghz, and it's buddy my iPad 16gb wifi. <3

Nice! I wonder what the iPad would look like if it had a silver bezel, just like the MBP.

Great setup and GLAD you're learning to DJ from the Technic's 1200 MK II's; don't shorten the name they've EARNED their place in DJ God history.

Also are you considering to move over to the Pioneer CD-DJ's or just to costly at the moment? Are you using Tractor Scratch, Ableton or ? for software?

Next if you upgrade your MBP; how are you going to deal with the single input/output audio if you stay in the 13" range?

I'm not considering cd-js at all.... I like/love the feel of vinyl and nothing scratches better...
I'm using Serato Scratch Live 1....

I'm dealing with the single input/output audio right now... but it doesn't matter because DVS's ie. Serato runs through the USB... if anything I use the in/out audio for recording my mixes.

I play a lot of Hip-Hop and R&B and dabble in a little of everything else ie.house,electronic,pop,rock.... My setup is more focused on hip-hop and scratching and mixing....

The 13" is perfect but the monitor is a little small... but I'm a bedroom dj right now... no plans of doing gigs or anything so it doesn't bother me.

Are you into dj'ing as well?

I like dealing in Macs because I know what they're worth and I know how to fix them if they're broken; just makes my life easier.
It is a good market for used Macs (even older ones) right now, as their popularity continues to explode.

Hey if that screen ever goes bad on you I did a write up on it for instructables.com. Second link on google when looking for "vs19e" or http://www.instructables.com/id/Repairing-a-vs19e/

Thanks, but I've been looking to replace it with a more recent higher quality display. I was planning on getting a ACD 24" or a 27" iMac, but other things always seems more important, so I never put off enough money for an upgrade. If it does break though, I'll probably get that ACD.

I'd assume he's using Serato Scratch Live. That black box underneath his laptop is the soundcard, so the single input/output is irrelevant.

Of course I might be wrong, I'm not sure if you can use the SSL box with Traktor etc...

Got rid of the old pre-unibody macbook pro on craigslist for $800 and then drove to the apple store to get the new mac mini. :) Its the 2.4 ghz and had them upgrade to 4gb of ram. Also pictured is the new windows laptop I got for work. It's a lenovo thinkpad x100e really nice little windows machine IMO.

here's my current setup, the MDD is under the desk and the Quicksilver is on the footlocker, and they both share the Dell and are connected via FW and ethernet.
That's the gf's Dell laptop in the corner though,not mine, I don't own a Windows machine. :p

Since you're the first person I've seem with a Unibody Mac Mini, I have to ask, where is the IR sensor on the new Mini, how is Wifi reception, and how loud is it? Thanks :)

I can't answer the last two questions but the IR sensor is at the far right end of the optical drive slot, inside the slot.

Like the post said above the IR sensor is to the left of the sleep/wake light inside the superdrive slot. Haven't had an issue yet with wifi it always has full strong signal unlike my previous non-unibody mbp. It is super quiet I made a little video link you can barely hear it in the beginning and I have the fan set for 2k rpm. I spool it up to 6k and it's still super quiet. Also runs super cool at 30-40 deg. C running itunes, safari, and iphoto normal day to day stuff.

That's great to know, thanks. The IR sensor must be tiny, I can't see it in any of the photographs (or it might just be dark, I have my monitor calibrated to show deeper blacks). I also have a pre-unibody MBP, and I find I have to leave the lid up just to stream a video, it's ridiculous. I really want one of the new Minis (I have one of the old ones in my car, and I love it) but I'll have to upgrade next year anyways, and likely to another portable

Got a new keyboard for my iMac, and am now using my Razer Orochi I've had lying around for a while, too.

I don't use my MBP much during the summer; but as soon as I begin going to class and teaching in the fall, it's my best friend in the whole world. :p
