Moved back home after graduating from college. Sold my iMac; Unibody MacBook stays hooked up to the monitor. The iPad is used for browsing and watching videos in bed and around the house.

I am looking to get a new desk and perhaps the 24" LED Cinema Display by Christmas. Also the cable from my Bose Companion 3s doesn't reach my MacBook so they are hidden behind the monitor for now. Need to manage my cables, but this is the best I can do given the desk and setup I have.

new boy on board

I am about to furnish my new home office once we move in two weeks from now. Currently leaning towards a Galant Black Glass + Expedit, or a Graphite Flatline Desk/Shelving

Has anyone got the black glass galant and can give me any thoughts? not completely sure of Glass vs MDF and I cant get near an ikea to check em out at the moment.

tech to be housed in the new office:

Macbook Pro + Elevator
hopefully a 27" iMac next month (or a 24 monitor if the missus decides I cant have it!)
Qnap 419p NAS
WD 1TB
Airport Extreme
Wireless keyboard/mouse
work laptop(s) - usually at least one

Looking forward to being able to get involved in this thread once i have pictures :)

Since there are so many different desks here, I was hoping someone would have any suggestions or recommendations on what desk I should buy next.

Only requirement is that it is less than 1600mm wide.

Was looking for one with light coloured wood and has a metal construction.

I'm in the same boat. My fiance and I both need desks but we don't have much room. We have 72 inches in length and 30 inches in width to work with.

I really need your dog picture. Can I have it with the original quality ?

The fan to the right is totally necessary even in Winter. Sitting near this thing is like sitting next to a radiator! :p

Getting a new email is noisy. :p

Buying low and selling high on craigslist. It's not easy...or fast, but it lets me have some money and nice equipment/"merchandise" to work with :D

Also, it beats groveling for chump change at Mickey D's

That's pretty funny... I'm 17, and that's exactly how I make the bulk of my money. Several times a day, I browse CL for cheap Macs with problems I'm confident I can fix, then I buy them, fix them and sell them. Right now I've got to sell a PowerMac G4+Studio Display for at least $200 (got them as a partial trade for an iMac G5 I replaced the capacitors on) and a 20" iMac G5 for ~$400. I spent $130 for the iMac itself, $50 for a new 500GB hard drive, then... the rest will be profit :D

I'm also able to get a lot of free Macs through my dad, which is pretty nice. That's how I got the first iMac G5, for example. Man, I've sold so much... an iMac G5, an iMac G4, two PowerBook G4s, an Intel Mac Mini, a PowerMac G4, and a bunch of others I'm sure I'm missing. I've also sold three Wintel laptops, two stereos, an LCD monitor... it's a great business, really. Just requires time, patience, and marketing skills.

Yeah, that's the truth. I try to stick to things with the highest profit margins, which also tend to be the most expensive. People view large ticket items as easy to take a loss on, because of the still substantial amount they will be getting back. You have to find a seller going ridiculously low, and after that, it's just a matter of finding the right buyer.

I try to make $500 or so with each deal.

$500? That's crazy, lol. I generally go for between $50-$200, mainly because I deal primarily in Macs. I like dealing in Macs because I know what they're worth and I know how to fix them if they're broken; just makes my life easier. What do you deal in, cars?

It sounds like you're saying that you both low and high ball people?

So you charge $500 more than everything is worth?
