The one on the left doesn't do much. Its an old G5 that a buddy of mine was going to eWaste since he got a new Mac Pro. I took it from him and got it working. The wife just surs the web, checks email, and does photo stuff on it.

The Mac Pro on the right is mine and is complete over kill for me. I bought it with plans to do some video editing and heavy photo editing but have not done much of it yet. With our new baby coming I'm sure that will change a bit but the machine will still be overkill. I only bought it since I had a Developer buddy who was getting hooked up on a deal and he added a machine for me. The 30inch ACD I bought used from someone on here for $1000 I think. I love it!
aahh score man! if the machine is too powerful then i strongly would suggest the i7 iMacs (i have one and LOVE it)! they are very powerful machines at the moment - fine for consumer video editing thats for sure :)

goodluck with the baby! when is it due?

do you rly want to know?
I'll be getting the same, and I really can't wait since my 2007 MBP is really starting to show its age (and that 3GB RAM limit really hurts). In your sig, you say you're getting an iPT 4g... you going to get one once it comes out, or wait until you can get one free with your MBP purchase? Personally, I'm going to do both. An iPT 2g with iOS 4 really doesn't work well, so I need a new one ASAP!

I don't know just yet. I guess i'll decide when the new ipods come out. If they features warrant me getting them earlier, then i might do that. Personally, it is a stupid idea to get one w/ the back to school sales. they only do that to clear stock for the new ones. I might get one this xmas tho. I'm thinking of striking a school grade related deal w/ my 'rents. About sandy brdige tho, we still might not get quad cores next yr. the quad cores might be too power consuming for apple.. :( 45W TDP sux. the only ones apple will use will be the 20W tdp dual cores for next yr. O well. whatever i get, it will be a huge upgrade over my P4 dinosaur.

This is the most basic, temporary set-up. Currently on break from my university and I have nothing but a tv dinner tray to hold up my Macbook Pro

I LOVE that desk!

I am really into black electronics and this will work well when I have the space. I have a Blackbook, too!

Here is my current setup....there is a time capsule tucked behind the far right monitor as well that didn't quite make it into the shots. As minimal as possible.

You already have it.

You can actually sync the Flurry screensaver across different Mac devices (not screens) e.g. iMac and MBP - I noticed this the other night. *Disclaimer* Both devices must have the same settings for Flurry in order for this to work...

I run locktight so I can "lock" the screen when AFK, and after I press my hotkeys, the computer starts the screensaver then drops straight back to the unlock screen prompt.

On the two devices, start the screensaver at the same time, or lock the screens at the same time and watch as two sperate devices display the same Flurry pattern.

I would have to say that nothing beats the Ikea Galant desks! :D
The one and only thing I have ever bought from Ikea and I love it. Not sure I'd buy anything else, as the build quality isn't the best, but it looks awesome, and is for me, the perfect size.
