looks like chrome to me! :) 2 windows & 2 tabs in FB window! :) It isnt really that clever! :p large display and windowed OS's = multiple windows at once. try Divvy for window management! :) its awesome! :)

I use the wonderful app divvy to arrange my windows. I have global shortcuts implemented for standard windows locations.

command 1 gives me 50% display left, command 2 50% right...so I open two windows in chrome (not safari) and arrange them with the shortcuts. Divvy works with every window and any browser...highly recommended.

edit: Danny was faster and is right on spot.

There is no such thing as a 1.44GHz MacBook Pro, or (IIRC) even a PowerBook. The fastest PowerBook in the 1.4GHz range was 1.42Ghz...

f-sakes, i typed the wrong thing..... i meant the 1.44 powerbook (which when i look turns out to be a 1.5 powerbook).

Anyway, had a 15 inch one (iirc), got replace with this model clicky

I have tbh, i cant remember what i did yesterday, let alone 5+ years ago.

The powerbook in my photo is definately the one ive linked to above.

Here is my Mac Pro Office (this is a frame from an HD 1920x1080 digital video).
Mixed_1_1_00004_small.png

The white spots you can see there are just some markers for a camera tracking/ special effect video I was working on when I shotted the video.
Here is also a frame from the camera tracking result I did in blender with my Mac Pro Office (just for fun). :) :p :p lol

and here is the final video (my Mac Pro office + Special Effects with blender)

(You can see more of the office there because the camera is moving).

My Mac Pro is a 2009 model with the specs that you can see in my signature.
I am considering buying a Dell 27" monitor or an Apple monitor and some more HDD's (hdd space it is never enough for an artist...hehe) in the future. And...maybe give my 6 GB Ram an upgrade to 16 GB Ram. :)

PS.: I Love my mac...!!! This mac pro is my first mac (after 25 years using pc's I finally switched to a mac) and I just love it...!!

I just got the U2711 27" Dell last week and can highly recommend it. Great colors, good viewing angle and the best of all, it's matte. Definitely better than that strange mirror Apple is calling a monitor.

I totally agree. Matte is better for working that glossy. I believe that glossy is better for viewing movies in a dark room (more vivid colors).
Also Dell have more options (i/o).
I am considering buying a Dell monitor and a Samsung Led TV 32" or bigger.
My old computer screen (19", 4:3) will be the 2nd monitor. The Dell 27 will be the main one and the Samsung led tv will be in the wall above my desk, serving me as a tv and as a video out monitor for video editing for my mac pro.

I don't know if it worth the money to take a "3D TV" instead of just a led tv. Maybe I should wait for the prices to get down and to become more popular. I don't know.

Ps: Nice photo. Like it...like it...like it...!!! hehe :)

Thanks. :)

Sounds like a good idea. That huge gain of screen space will surely make your impressive blender projects a lot more comfortable to create.

I just ended up returning my u2711. I mainly work with text documents (use my TV for any movies/media) and with a white background I found the AG coating to be too strong. Granted, when I did game the monitor looked amazing. I might give the ACD a try soon.

OMG I have that same KVM switch. I got it on sale for like $13 at microcenter. It is a Trendnet TK-207.

Yup, it works fine but I absolutely hate having it on my desk. I really wish there was a more elegant way to share one mouse and keyboard between my MBP and PC.

Hey all

With it being a new year I thought I'd share my latest setup shot as its been quite a while now. So for this update I'll just highlight the series of changes which has occurred in my setup over the past couple of months.

p1227697.jpg

This is my desk area at the moment. I've moved the desk & shelving unit from the opposite side of the room down the middle and so have it setup as a room Divider with a small office area in one part and a bedroom/media area in the other. Not really liking this shot too much, makes the setup look messy, which it isn't I need to fix the cable mess and will do sometime today :L

p1227700.jpg

This is just a closer more in-depth look at my desk, from left to right is my 13'' Unibody MacBook Pro and Rotel Amplifier below, Lava Lamp in the middle, my 17'' Apple Studio Display Connected to my old G4 Quicksilver system below the desk, then my iPhone 3G 16GB and next to that is my 32GB iPad wifi model.

p1227703.jpg

The eMac and my telescope sits at the opposite side of the room against the back wall. The eMac use to be one of my primary machines, but now I just use it for iPhone app syncing still works well for that due to it being the USB 2.0 model with a 1.42GHz G4 & 1GB RAM

p1227706.jpg

This sits at the other side of the room divider and is basically the bed area and room theatre centre.

p1227709.jpg

This sits next to the bed and the C2D based Mac mini runs Plex Media centre, Eye TV and Front row in order for me to watch live TV, films etc. Both the Mac mini and Graphite G4 are connected to my 22'' Samsung 226BW which is a great monitor and has been, accept an insect has died in it near the top middle section make it sometimes quite annoying.

For my 18th in March I was planing on having one last splash out before saving up and going to uni and getting myself a Mac Pro, but I have decided it isn't really needed :( so instead i'm doing my scuba diving qualification.

Any other questions feel free to ask

I have mine hidden away on my pull-out drawer that has my keyboard and mouse on it. It is just downright ugly and cumbersome.

Picture that is kind of old, I have put the G5 on display instead of using it, and I have replaced it with a MacBook that has no screen as my dedicated desktop and I upgraded my iPhone 2G that is pictured to an iPhone 3GS. I also replaced the Mighty Mouse with a Magic Mouse (which is in the picture). I also replaced the 320GB portable Seagate Freeagent Go (blue) with a 500GB Seagate Freeagent Desk.:

Edit: Can you tell that I like blue? ;)

Edit 2: Decided to post a lot of pics of my past and present setups.

This is how I use my MBP in my bed. When I am tired and do not want to go to my desk, this is where I use it.

I was deeply disappointed it didn't have the bee-bee-bee-beep like normal alarm clocks do.

I dunno about solutions for Mac, but back when I was a PC user, I had a KVM that allowed switching by hitting scroll lock twice followed by the up arrow. Best thing was there was no software required, so I could plug in any machine I wanted and it would work straight away.
