See attached picture.

I use Synergy to control both computers as if they were (almost) one.

What are your thoughts on synergy??

I currently use a MBP with an external screen and want to get a power mac g4/screen but don't have room on the desk for another set of keyboard/mouse. Do you know if synergy will work on a PPC? as i have heard mixed results.

Exactly, but if the poster can get the size of the laptop wrong, then they can also get the year of the machine wrong  Its a nice machine, whatever it is!

Oops it is a 17 inch

It was a free replacement (under applecare) for a 15 inch 2001 model that the screen kept going wrong on. I always forget that.

So yeah you're all right, 17 inch 2003 powerbook, its the 1.67ghz powerpc processor one, (1gb of RAM 100GB hard disk i think). Still just about runs, just has some annoying issue, cant play youtube vides without stuttering, can't repair disk, doesnt pick up AFP shares.

I might re-install the OS to see if that will help

Anyway, well spotted guys, I wouldnt have even though about that....

I cant believe how neat and tidy all of your set ups are................ If you saw the state of mine (and even worse, my artist mate) you'd be puking with anger :D

I use "Teleport" instead of Synergy, works great and the older version works fine with PPC: http://www.abyssoft.com/software/teleport/

Sorry about this, but...

The 1.67GHz 17" PowerBook didn't come out until 2005. The 2003 17" PowerBook came with a 1.0GHz processor and a 60GB hard drive (though I suppose it's feasible you've upgraded that). And of course, the RAM was only 512 in either model, but it's even more likely that that's been upgraded.

(Why I know all this crap off the top of my head, I have no idea :p)

Though either way, that's a nice free replacement for a 400MHz TiBook.

Oh god knows then....... maybe i did originally get it in 2003 and get it replace in 2005

I remember the actualness of it all happening, just not when, i do know i had a metalbody macbook pro, it was the 1.44ghz model, with an 80 gb disk, and i paid to have the RAM upgraded..... so going on what you say, it must have been 2003 and with a replacement a year or so after..

And they say pot affects the brain eh?

There is no such thing as a 1.44GHz MacBook Pro, or (IIRC) even a PowerBook. The fastest PowerBook in the 1.4GHz range was 1.42Ghz...

Lol, beat me to it :p

But I'm done nitpicking. 17" notebooks are awesome, and the OP has a 17" notebook, therefore his notebook is awesome.

Nice 27" :) I might have to wait a decade to do it, but I don't intend to replace my 23" ADC cinema until I can afford a 27" or a 30" or something of the like.

OTOH, that desk still doesn't sit with me - I have a hard time seeing it used for more than an hour or two a day! It looks like it'd get shaky when typing and stuff heh. Believe me, I can empathize with you, but you should consider a nice comfy chair. Look at some of these setups, nice comfy chairs! Exercise balls work ok too, I suppose.

Haha! I try to do things away from my computer sometimes too!:D

Honestly, Synergy randomly stopped working a couple days ago and I couldn't be bothered to figure out why. I just use the laptop and its screen for email and calendar, so it's not a high priority for me. But when it works, it works great.

EDIT:

In case anyone was wondering, I was using QuickSynergy to handle Synergy through a GUI. I switched to SynergyKM and now it seems to work fine.
