For some of you that have 3 Macs in the same setup, including a laptop and two Mac Pros or whatever. What do you use them all for? I have a PC and a Mac Mini and I have thought about adding a more powerful Mac, but I would move the Mini to a different room (and possible remove the PC and run Parallels). I also have a laptop, but it never makes its way into my office.

Just curious as to what is going on in these type of setups?

I can only speak for myself... The Powermac is being used as a mediaserver for my movies ( it was my old desktop and I replaced it with the Mac Pro, cheaper option than to buy a new NAS) for my Apple TV (living room) and Mac Mini (mediacenter bedroom). The Macbook pro is only used for outside (charging only at the desk) where it connects to an other Mac Mini server. I'm using it mainly for website design, Study (using it with rumpus on my mini server). Some video editing and SEO for some customers of mine.

That makes sense. I guess I was thinking about how I would use the Mac Mini down the road, but I was planning on just moving it to the bedroom and streaming from there (to AE/ATV2). I guess the Mac Pro would not fit so well in my bedroom's entertainment center! :D

The base of the Dell monitor fits perfectly on your Mac Pro.

I don't have this setup any more - but I just found a pic of it I thought I would share.

It's a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo Mac mini. It now has 2GB RAM. It was at the end of my bed and used for watching movies and TV Shows. Its now my download donkey :D

Nope, but they do make monitors. Some of them are said to be quite good actually.

I have a bargain Acer display. It is an 18.5" display that I got for $90 at Microcenter. I hate it. The next display I get will have either an LED backlight to produce vivid colors (like my MBP display) or an IPS display, or even one with both!

Edit: and I think it is a TV because it is sitting on (what appears to be) a DirecTV box.

I don't think an LED backlight will produce more vivid colors.

Also, that's def. not a TV. Acer does not make TVs. I can put a chair on top of my car, that doesn't automatically make it a pair of roof racks.

What the OP might do is connect the DirecTV box to his monitor via HDMI.

Yes Ive been silly here. I shouldve posted a bigger picture that will Include my 32'' Sharp Aquos. The sky box underneath the acer monitor is plugged into said tv. The dock is universal, bought direct from apple. I will post picture later on, can't seem to do it on iPhone.

I had an Acer H243H and it was the worst monitor I have ever purchased in my life (hence the missing monitor in my photo).

No offense to anyone that owns one but.......

- It was made from very cheap materials.

- It's impossible to calibrate, white balance is always off

- There is a significant color shift with different viewing angles.

- Audio-in only

Bottom line is that if you need a monitor for professional use then don't buy one unless it's all you can afford. They are entry level monitors and for a small amount more you can get a monitor that is far better quality.

I've had my Acer X193w for a little over a year and it works perfectly for what I do with it. I would prefer a 27" ACD, but I don't have the $$$. I think that Apple needs to make a 21" ACD. I think a 27" wouldn't fit on my desk...

I have an Acer X183H and it is fine for what I use it for. However, I still do not like it. It has a limited resolution of 1366x768, and the LCD quality is so bad that there are vertical lines going across te display because of some sort of unevenness in the panel (not colored lines, just lines of unevenness of color).

I spy a universal iPhone dock (?) in your setup. If it is indeed one, can I ask if you've tried the iPhone 4 + bumper combo on this dock?

I never thought of that! I just tried it and yes the iPhone fits in the universal dock with the bumper on. You do get a popup saying "The Accessory is Not Optimized for this iPhone. You may experience noise caused by cellular interference and a decrease in cellular signal strength"

Other than that it seems to work fine. The iPhone charges and shows up in iTunes as expected.
