You must have never touched a Logitech MX. I guarantee you it will run circles around your Apple mouse.

People get so devoted to Mac is makes me sick. Even if it's a crappy product there's gonna be people out there that love it for what is symbolizes and not what it can actually do.

i use logitech at work and and my pc at home. but honestly ive had so many logitech mouses and keyboards go to ***** on me. connectors not working, etc.

so for my mbp the magic mouse has been a great combination so far.
magicprefs + magic mouse = all over your mx :p

Oh I wouldn't do that ;)

I've had a few Logitech mice myself, including a ~7 year old MX700 that I purchased in a wireless desktop set (eg, it came with a keyboard). 3 years in, the keyboard died - I called them about it and they sent me a whole new set, new top of the line keyboard and mouse at the time.

That's customer service (granted, Apple is pretty good about this too). I agree their keyboards are a bit tacky (and LOVE my Apple aluminum keyboards!!!), but to write off Logitech is a bit ridiculous and maybe just a little pathetic IMHO. The few times I've had to use their warranty support they've been very generous and quick to take care of things.

I would expect that to happen with any sort of accessory undergoing continuous use. You can't necessarily fault them for something breaking. The real question is how they handle it.

When I couldn't put my keys back on after spilling liquid all over my keyboard I called Logitech looking for replacements keys. The keyboard I had (Dinovo Mac Edition) was discontinued so they offered my $179.95 plus tax refund (paid by check) or equal value towards any of their products. This was 2 years after I bought the keyboard!

Try calling Apple these days. If you don't end up talking to someone in India or Philippines at some outsourced all center after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, then you'll probably end up talking to the 18 year old manager who has no qualms hanging up on you. They can't possible staff enough well trained and reasonable people to support the large demand that they have for all their products.

I had a manager offer me a $100 credit to the Apple Store (after a colossal screw-up with my order). I told her what I wanted, gave her a shipping address and she said sorry and that everything was taken care of.

Two weeks later, nothing! I had to call up the corporate office and bitch at some upper-level executives to manage the circus show that they were running at these call centers for something to get done.

Oh BS, dude. It is one thing to call people out on their brand loyalty and another to hate a brand out of spite.

Just because you have had a bad experience, does not mean it is ANYWHERE near the norm.

In my personal experience and reading about MANY others, Apple goes out of their way Customer Service wise.

Not that it matters, but I have never talked to anyone in India when dealing with Apple CS on the phone. In fact, I had to recently call for 3 separate issues within the last two months and each time it was definitely not an "outsourced" call.

I have also recently had an issue with my phone that may or may not have been because of me dropping it. I took it in, genius looked at it, heard my story and no more questions asked, whipped out a brand new phone and replaced it on the spot. We are talking about a heavily used, 10 month old, "bare back (no case)" scratched and dented to pieces iPhone 4 here. Brand spanking new phone, no problem.

Now, I won't say that their actual product quality is on par as it once was. Again, lots of dealing with CS lately. But that is what has kept me from jumping ship. Through certain frustrations, the CS actually kept me in the game. And that says a lot. Most other companies these days will NOT bend over backwards like Apple has. Especially if they're in Apple's highly popular position.

So hate on Apple and their fans all you want, but please don't BS to prove a point. And if you are telling the truth, go read around and you will see that your experience seems to be a very isolated one.

Holy heck man! Get some zip-ties! Or those velcro ones you can reuse! Tame that cable nest before it takes over your working space!:p

Which version of linux are you running btw? Mint debian here for me if I am not on one of my macs. Started out with

~Drake

The linux is a Gnome desktop version 2.30.2 running on Ubuntu 10.04.
As for ties I'm moving things around too much to secure the wiring just yet.

That second picture looks pretty bad too. (not benjayman2's; the second one I posted)

do you rly want to know?
i disagree. i love the mouse. and ive done countless websites, and graphics with it.

i prefer my performance mx. comfiest mouse i've ver used. small mice are uncomfortable for me and touch type mice like the magic mouse just feel weird. it's fine that you use it tho. at the end of the day, you're the person who has to use the mouse, not anyone else.

Not anyone can afford Performance MX.

Less chit-chat and more setup photos, it's been 27 posts since the last setup.

If you're going to argue about a mouse start a new thread or take it to PM.

Get to chopping those back legs on the desk shorter and pushing it on toward the wall. Radiator = foot rest.

I never really got what the meant, like why do people say that, I just never saw it until I came on this board but I never understood it...

it makes it a collector's edition because it is the only macbook in history to have a unibody build out of aluminum. all other macbooks are made from plastic. not to be confused with a 13" macbook pro of course.

I agree. The Logitech MX (5500) set is the best keyboard and mouse combination I have ever used. I wouldn't rank any of the Apple keyboards or mice in the top 15 for anything other than design.

I'll post a pic in this thread next month, going shopping first. :p
