The bass is acceptable. People said that it was quiet but it does live up to my expectations at least. The response is on point since I listen to a lot of metalcore. It shakes the room a tad bit but it wont shake the walls. I still have my Logitech Z-5500 sitting here if I ever feel like that for whatever reason.

If you want a loud punch - the Z-5500 is your best option (although now on Amazon they jacked the price up, and Logitech's new model is getting average to negative reviews).

Wow, you're right. On Amazon its 999.99 now. Does this mean my Z-5500's resale value would be much higher? I was thinking about selling it before I head off to college next year.

Unfortunately no. For some reason amazon has older items for ridiculous prices. A Western digital my book studio 1tb harddrive is about $300 but the 2tb version is just $150. In fact your speakers are going for about $300 on eBay right now.

You mean even though its aluminium metal (not plastic painted in the silver color), it still feels cheap? If you don't mind, could you upload more pics of the enclosure. Thanks again! Your setup is beautiful BTW. ;)

It's not actual aluminium metal... it really is just a piece of plastic painted in silver to match the Macs.

Kinda doubt it - I'm trying to sell mines for $200 through Craigslist and haven't gotten anything. There's only small cosmetic minors, aside of the biggest being the Sub grille which got damaged so I removed, but performance is still at 100%.

I got the Z-5500 cause Newegg had them at $250, later I checked they had them back at $350, I don't know about now.

I have a pair of Creative T40's... is it worth it to swap them out for the Swan M10's...

I can sell the creatives for almost 50% of the price of the Swan's, I have a buyer willing to buy.

Any Ideas.

The iMac-update!

What've we got...

Apple:

- iMac 27" 2011 i5, 6770m standard model
- Macbook Pro 13" 2011 standard model
- iPad 2 16GB Wifi black
- iPhone 3GS 32GB white
- Apple TV 2 (Okay, I hid that one)
- Bunch of Apple input devices
- The Frankendock! It's a Universal Dock that I cut up and made to work with an iPad 1/2 as well as my iPhone and iPod touch when needed. It's also got infrared support (on iPad!)

Samsung 204Ts functioning for social stuff as secondary screen.

Audio:

- Jean Marie Reynaud Signature (1 or 2) speakers
- Harman Kardon AVR 130 until I can get a better receiver
- Presonus Firestudio Mobile for the iMac, the Macbook Pro (via a USB-> S/PDIF converter), and mixer for the Apple TV and the Panasonic TV whenever I get some optical DACs.
- Final S200 subwoofer (hard to see)

And the TV - a Panasonic P42G20.

It pretty much depends on the type of music you listen to. But even then - the T40s seem like a good pair of speakers that also don't take up space. So if they've been serving you justice, you should be fine.

I've been through quite a few sets - most of them being Logitech - and these Swans are probably my best and final stop.

my set-up

Here it is. Front, back and above. I just posted the same thing in the Cinema Display thread but haven't contributed to this one yet so... The last pic is a stand for the display; to raise it a bit, provide some USB ports and slide the keyboard under. Not sure about it yet, just reading the reviews. Haven't ordered it yet.

Yes the T40's are a great pair of speakers.... however I have just bough a really nice white desk and have the lacie HD with the blue LED light... so the Swans being white with the blue LED volume switch would look very cool...

Music wise I play a lot of Deep House and Deep Tech so the extra bass on the Swans would be very nice.

You won't get the club-house music feel with the bass but if you don't mind it then yeah, you'll be satisfied.

(From a laymans point of view...)

I can vouch for that... the bass is pretty huge on that system (Z5500)... I run it in my room at the mo and 4 bars out of a possible (guessing here) 20, it's massively loud and bassey. Treble aint half bad either.

I wasn't too fund of Logitech's logic behind their speakers (the whole "lets shove a thorn in the center"). There's only so much you can do trying to shove mids and highs out a 3.5" driver.

Really? It's only around the £350 mark here in the UK (on Amazon, at least)

Yeah, discontinued product's prices are bumped up on Amazon a bit too much sometimes. I wanted to buy the Logitech MX Revolution, but since it's $200+ now and I don't want the Performance MX, I would much rather get the Razer Mamba for half the price. The Mamba also has a dock unlike the Performance MX.
Peapody: Jawbone bluetooth headsets are $10 right now here.

For it's price (in the grand scheme of 5.1 systems) I'd say it performs well - personally...
I agree. I'm still pretty shocked its considered just a PC Speaker System to them rather than just a home theater system, so no complaints, especially grabbing it at $250 at the time.

Nice setup and speakers. Did the speaker stand come with the speakers? If not, what kind are they?

I have no clue, but they certain'y didn't come with the speakers. Also, thanks! (I checked, there's no marking or branding on them at all.)

Lion cometh.

I've noticed many peeps still using regular mouse - interesting to see how many more Magic Trackpads & Mice we start seeing on this thread once Lion is released.
