lol nice cat mine is in a cage at night for the time being right at month this coming monday he broke his back left leg and we dont know how he woke me up as my room is in our basement so we think he done it done here. so the vet removed the ball from his hip thats what broke so he limps now but he is doing better
Poor Kitty! Does he attach to your Mac Mini?

My cat only likes Macs and won't do that to my other laptops, probably, because the fan is very loud on the PC while the Macs are just warm and quiet...

Updated set up.

Have added a PS2 and a HD Game Box to convert RCA to VGA for the EXT monitor.

Plus moved the entire set up so as it sits in the window bay, I got bored looking at a wall...

What desk is that? That would really suit my needs that would. Just about to buy some new furniture.

My Desk Setup

So, my current set-up isn't very exciting right now but hopefully it will be soon.
I'm planning on taking my old alienware laptop and building it into the desk (as shown in the mockup) so I would love any advice or comments on it.
(Please excuse the poor quality, it's the best I can get out of my little iPhone)

Here's how it looks now:

The goal is to have my alienware laptop (which I am currently ripping apart) hidden under the upper section, with the monitor attached to the front of the upper piece. The hard drive directly underneath that (on it's side), the optcal drive on the right of the motherboard (attached under the upper section) and a usb hub either left of the motherboard or under the left-hand section of the desk. And then wireless mouse and keyboard.

And this is what that will hopefully look like:

i know, haha. i like the clutter free. thats why im having trouble to adjust to the new home/work setup

if you notice between 1 and 2, picture one i had my air port extreme, router, and external hard drive all stacked on top of each other, on top of a sub for my 2.1. i swear that air port gets hot enough to start a fire.

then in the second pic i bought a small tv stand with shelves and put under the desk and moved the printer and all the other junk on to it.

Dont feel offended, but let me ask you a question: you have iMac, iPhone, ipad and a macbook pro. Do you really NEED all these or is it just impulsive and compulsive behavior?
Sometimes I wish I had all of these, I just dont buy because I am one of those people who save every cent ehehe.

Ya no offense taken. I don't really NEED anything. But do my wants exceed my needs, or course. I'm just fortunate enough to have a well paying job that i can afford all these toys :)

Well yes he definitely needs the Iphone and some sort of computing device (Imac or MacBook) :) The others are obviously wants over needs, just as he had stated!

What you're doing is assigning a lifespan to your desk. Where before your desk might last 20 years, now its life is over when the laptop dies in a year (I say a year because it's an Alienware :D).

But if you do decide to go ahead with it, just know you can't really put the components together however you want-- the cables aren't long enough, and they're angled to fit exactly how they need to go in the laptop.

Just my 2¢.

I have plenty of those.

I'm still trying to get a BAG of crap, but I'm never quick enough  (let's see who knows what I'm talking about here :D).

I have currently changed up my set up, and decided to move to a standing up set up to A: stem the lethargy, and B: I had a friend who works in a office who has been affected by restless leg syndrome, so I took this old dresser and its a perfect standing desk.

I got my iMac, my iPhone dock, Blue Snowball Microphone, hanging above my Master Chief helmet, and Icingdeath chillin on the side, just incase :p

Also my little elephant god carving on the left. :)

Ya, sorry, I should have gone into a little more detail. I've already though of both of those. Haha, and this alienware already died a few years ago (13 months after I bought it, 1 month after warranty ended:mad:) and is being resurrected.

I'm also making universal mounts, so when the alienware gets outdated I can swap it out for something else. And yes, the cables are, so far, the largest hassle. That's why the motherboard is directly below the monitor (it will be the original laptop screen, if I can fabricate a mount for it). However, the truly largest problem right now, is actually one I didn't think about when I got started, mounting the power button, it's cable is about 1.5 inches long, haha, so I'm gonna see if I can make that work, or have my electronics buddy find a way to extend the cables.

Also, I don't really like this desk, and I plan on replacing it in a year or two anyways, so if I have to permenatly alter it to get the alienware to fit, then I'm not too worried. Thanks for the input though, every little bit helps.
