Guys,

I have a macbook pro 15.4" mid 2010 and recently purchased a LG 23 LED display.
Also, I have an old LG 19 squared LCD.
That being said, I am looking for suggestions to make the best setup with all I have.

Macbook Pro = should I use it with opened or closed lid? Doubt: isnt it weird to use a 23" monitor AND a 15.4" display?

LG 23 display = no doubt here ehhee

LG 19 display = I really would like to use this monitor in the vertical position, but we all know that its impossible to use 2 monitors in the same time with the macbook WITHOUT spend at least 200 dollars with an adapter.
So, what should I do with it?

As soon as I can, I will take a picture with the current setup (macbook + 23 LED LG).

I just dont want to waste a 19" monitor...

Thanks a lot!

you can try using a USB to VGA for one of the monitors. Theyre bout 50-60 on newegg.com. I'm using one along with a mini display to vga for another monitor on my macbook. It works well, i'm able to shut the macbook and use a wireless mouse and keyboard with the two monitors. ( and its windows 7 compatible) only probably is there is a lot of lag with the USB to VGA adapter, so no gaming or video. i use it for email and excel for work and it works fine.

Nope. I use my 15.4" MBP open with my 28" display right next to it all the time, I love it. You just have to get them lined up properly in system preferences so it feels more natural. I generally have six Spaces going that I switch between on the 28", and I've locked iTunes into all six Spaces on the 15.4". So whichever Space I'm working in, I'll still be able to control my tunes :D

Man, what a good idea!
I dont play any game but I watch lots of videos and here is my question: will I be able to play HD videos on the 23" monitor without any lag? (this monitor uses the minidisplay port)
I liked this idea a lot! I use 90% of the time for word, .pdf, photos, safari and itunes, so I think I can use the 19" monitor too!
Can you give me a hand and show me the link to this adapter? thanks a lot!

Veeery good! Now I plan to do that, I just need to find a good stand for my macbook pro. I live in Brazil, so here these things are really expensive. For example: mStand, which costs 49 dollars, here it costs about 120 dollars. No chance to spend more than a hundred for a piece of metal...

My Studio Setup

I've been watching these threads for a while so I finally decided to post some of my own setup photos.

My desk. New Mac mini 2011 w/ 2.5 Dual Core i5 processor and 8 GB RAM. White iPad 2 32 GB. White iPhone 3GS (saving up for iPhone 5!) Behringer BCF2000 mixing console that I use for Logic Studio + ProTools. M-Audio Fasttrack + DMP3. My two iPod nanos. And the latest issue of Maclife!

My Yamaha keyboard plugged into the Mac mini. This Mac screams!

A lot of my instruments. Including 2 guitars, a mandolin, a really sh**y ukulele, 2 alto saxophones (one is a rental and one is my own, precious Yamaha 62), my tenor sax, soprano sax (Yamaha 62, I believe), Yamaha flute, clarinet, and bari sax.

My AudioTechnica AT4033a microphone.

And my new iPod nano 6th gen 16 GB playing Radiohead's King of Limbs album next to my Magic Mouse and beloved iPad 2.

I've been working on the setup quite a bit in preparation for recording the material I've been writing. Can't wait to get another monitor in. Until then, I'm very happy with the setup I've organized!

Nice speakers - bit of advice, I'd move the speaker off the amp. I had a similar setup when I was in halls at uni, had my amp on top of my subwoofer, and the bass ended up causing a resister to pop loose. Easy fix, but could have been worse!

I don't even use a stand with mine (besides my 2" high notebook cooler anyways). Most of my attention is focused on the 28" monitor, so it isn't a huge deal for me to look down once in awhile to change songs in iTunes. If I were constantly going between both monitors, yes, it could be a problem, but when you're only talking 15.4" you're not going to be doing much on there.

=/
Not happy to inform that I wont use my 19" monitor because I just cant spend money on the USB -> VGA adapter. Why? Shipping to Brazil is too expensive and I will have to pay taxes (which in Brazil is exactly 60% of declared value - pretty cheap, uh?).

I will use only my LED 23" and my macbook pro display! :)

Thanks for the advice. I recently re-arranged the whole room and decided to move everything around completely. I did at one point notice the receiver getting really hot at times. Also, I didn't like having both big speakers facing the same way like that.
