here the setup from my dorm room. one is my desk and the other is the living room. sorry for the bad quality. the lighting in the room is horrible. The pictures include airport extreme, airport express, 2 western digital my book studios 2tb and 1.5 tb. These are used for movies and other files that i don't want on my computer. 1 my book 1 tb for time machine, and 1 my book world 1 tb for a music sever. its holds all types of music but a lot of classical because our dorm suite is all music majors. another my passport 320 gb has there as well. a magic trackpad and my iPad. in the living room is a 32" LG 1080p tv, creative 2.1 speaker system soon to be replaced my klipsch 2.1 sound system. we have an xbox, gamecube, and apple tv there as well. the hard drives are wired to the airport extreme for wireless movies through the apple tv. the airport express allows for airplay. we also made our own network as the school only has G routers.

our biggest problem is the cable management behind the tv. does anyone have any ideas on how to better deal with that lol.

Wow, you actually have a really nice dorm! Furniture that nice? A living room? *Jealous*

I also had to set up my own network-- the wireless here is slow as [insert four-letter profanity here]! We're not supposed to have routers though, so I had to hide the SSID and set up MAC filtering.

thanks!!! i was going to post under post your dorm also but my bed wasn't made :)
the building is only 10 years old and mostly sophomores and juniors live in it. Its a five person suite. Two bedrooms, one with 2 people and one with 3 people. Then our living room, mini kitchen and bathroom.

our network can be slow at times. it depends on how many kids are connected to the schools network as well. On a good day I get 60 Mbps and at its slowest i have had 8 Mbps. As far as I know we can have routers because some RA's have seen it during room checks but haven't said anything yet lol.

The iMac does have built-in speakers :)
I don't know about others opinions, But for me, I just like the sound of my Creatives, Slightly crisper sound and more direct, And they deliver far more bass. ;)

I had a few of those, they're very dependable and built really well but the fan noise started bugging me after a while and I had to remove it

So far they are fine, still much quieter than one of my old external drive. Mainly I use it to backup my photography work for this raid1 box. Cheapest solution I can find online.

did you find one that is firewire without hard drives?

Yep
